Their contention is that trading for Smith makes Pitts obsolete...

My opinion? The Smith trade has nothing to do with Pitts, and we'd be dumb to trade him...

They seem to not understand two tight end sets.

You can tell by watching the imbedded video labeled “Here’s 350+ yards & TDs in overthrows” That Pitts took a big step back in 2022 and was clearly over-drafted.  Mariota could have taken us to the Super Bowl if his players had stepped up a little bit more.

I can’t wait to see Pitts in his 3rd season with a real QB throwing him the ball. The games I attended in person, Pitts was running open downfield all game. Mariota either never saw him, or when he did he couldn’t get him the ball. It was awful listening to Mariota fans blaming Pitts for a bad year.

I said and I mean it still.

This made sense in 2022. We were essentially wasting a year of our unicorn’s rookie deal in 2022 and would have made sense to trade for edge or DB “then”. It doesn’t make sense now. I don’t believe AT ALL that Art Smith understands 2TE offense and his record of using KP as a VERY MEH blocker and not prioritizing him as a catch target despite knowing beyond any doubt that EVERY time Pitts touches the ball it’s a 1st down clearly illustrates A Smith’s lack of confidence in that type of scheme.

But I also believe Art Smith is smart and capable enough of learning about the football and I do expect to see J Smith and K Pitts dominating the offense in 2023. Art Smith knows this is the path to keeping his job.

Honestly I don’t think this is as absurd as you guys think, especially if they really like Anderson and think he’s the solution to our pass rush. I don’t like the idea but IMO it’s not as far fetched as you make it sound.

Maaaaaybe if we had some viable pass catchers to replace him and you could get really good value (multiple 1sts - which you're not getting).

But trading Pitts leaves Drake, Jonnu and that's pretty much it.

It doesn’t make sense man. People need to stop looking at the “TE” next to Pitts’ name. He’s a football player and a very deadly weapon. Trading him would be very stupid

I’ve learned it’s just the hater argument. Whether it’s Justin Fields fanboys or people that simply don’t get football.

The only time people call him “just a TE” is when they have a narrative to push.
