hopefully our scouts and coaches dig deeper than our internet GMs.

Jalen was not a lockerroom cancer, was well liked by his coaches and teammates - and - outside of his driving - which clearly needs intervention there - he's on balance mostly a good kid.   As to the weight and the workout - it's not like he hasn't been in a tough spot the last month - there are circumstances here

but by all means,  let's ignore his career, his talent and that he is well thought of in the program - and add 2 + 2 and get 8 like the messageboard now in this thread.

Nah bro, this guy could out-talent college kids; what he's doing does not translate to the NFL.

He didn't learn the first time. I'm not betting millions of dollars that he learns the second time. Sorry.

Can't be mad at this. I do think I'd be more willing to trade back and take a flier in him if he happens to make it to 16ish hopefully picking up a good package that must include at least a third in this year's draft to be in the mix for one of those tier 2 running backs. Is there a pick that if he fell to you would say risk is worth the potential reward?

I'd risk it in the 2nd. Anything past the first 15-20 picks are usually projects anyway. The first round should be reserved for the closest to a sure thing you can get unless you're taking a chance on a QB.

#8 is a good spot to gamble on a potential HOF talent

Thinking about draft history, trying to recall if/when a team took a flyer on a guy that high with big red flags and a piss poor workout 🤔

Or maybe not at all. I don't care either way. Just trying to figure out what this thread was about

There's an article on ESPN about Jalen showing up to his pro-day out of shape and overweight.  He opted out of all of the drills except for position drills.  Then he couldn't even finish those because he was cramping and gasping for air so bad.

I really don't think you're following what I'm saying. But that's okay. Carry on

He's a grown man that's not where he should be according to pro expectations and should fall in the draft.

First one to come to mind is Jamarcus Russell

If I have the choice between a guy that is either Sapp or Hageman or a guy that's either Revis or Slay...I'm taking guy #2. There are just too many incredible ceiling prospects that'll be there at 8 without the same baggage. Wilson and Gonzalez have All Pro ceilings and are positions of greater need, so why overthink it?

both wilson and gonza could be gone by our pick.

I guess not...it seemed like you were implying you thought this thread was about his car racing and the wreck and whatever else that "happened off the field" as you put it I believe.  I agree that this is barely Falcons related if at all.  I'm cool if you want to banish it.

Or, maybe, just maybe, he's going through a lot of mental stress right now bc he was involved in an incident where two of his friends DIED, going through combine workouts which are the most important thing he's ever done in his life/career, and has to defend & read ******** like this on a daily basis. He's a young kin coming out of school who has been on the top of the world for the last two years in a row. The man also weighs 330 lbs+, like 9lbs is literally 3% of his body weight. Most people fluctuate 3-6 lbs per day, and that's an average person. I think the cardio conditioning aspect is a larger flag than the weight, and his mental toughness. Probably why Kirby Smart literally commented on his mental toughness.

Not trying to be an apologist for him bc I think the circumstances around the crash are pretty F-d up, but the man has talent for sure and will be a difference maker on the team he lands on.

All the more reason not to pick him, remember Calvin Ridley, Falcons ain't Dr. Phil!

why would kirby smart and his teammates lie?

Not saying they lied about anything, but any college coach has incentive to see his guys get drafted high. That’s a known fact, it helps in recruiting. Teammates are his boys. Again, not saying anyone is lying, but coaches and teammates have both personal and professional reasons to promote a player.

on the flip side, why would McShay lie? I wouldn’t think he has any vested interest in the matter.

Now you're picking up what I'm putting down

I'm guessing he tanked up on wrestler juice to drop some quick pounds for today and was not prepared for what it did to him. Didn't lose the weight, wasn't hydrated enough to do pro drills.

His agent should have prepared him better for today. There really is no excuse. It does make one wonder about him some no matter what the reason to not be ready today.
