I don't remember the last time a guy kamikazied his draft stock in such a short period of time. If a guy can't get in shape for a pro day before he's made a cent, what do you expect him to do once he signs his first contract. Massive red flag. Maybe he turns out fine but he's become a really scary prospect.

Warren Sapp dropped in a very short amount of time, as well as La'el Collins, Randy Moss and Laremy Tunsil.

I’ll take him at 8 without hesitation.

Too many stories over the years of exceptional talent wasted by guys that didn't have their mind where it needed to be to be exceptional. The red flags may be something, they may be nothing.

I'd pass on him without blinking and let someone else play that risk/reward game.

Agree. Right now Carter is a mental, physical and emotional basket case. Whatever potential and value he has as a pro football player is obliterated right now.

He's going to have to pull himself back together and get his life straightened out before he can be worth anything as a football player.

GM's just aren't going to know how long it will take him to get that done. At the moment I no longer believe he's a first-round pick. We'll see if he can redeem himself in the time left before the draft.

I understand people look at him and see the next warren sapp but sometimes you have to step back and reevaluate the situation and realize your own greed might be getting the better of you. I hope he works his way through this but as a business decision I couldn’t risk it. Maybe day 2 or 3 when risk is lower but no way in the 1st round

It's ok to want someone but you have to pay attention to the signs, the speeding, not working out at the combine, gaining 9 pounds in a short time, not loosing the weight before the pro day, looking bad on the pro day and not doing all the drills on pro day. This is like a serious job interview for millions of dollars, let the buyer beware.

hopefully our scouts and coaches dig deeper than our internet GMs.

Jalen was not a lockerroom cancer, was well liked by his coaches and teammates - and - outside of his driving - which clearly needs intervention there - he's on balance mostly a good kid.   As to the weight and the workout - it's not like he hasn't been in a tough spot the last month - there are circumstances here

but by all means,  let's ignore his career, his talent and that he is well thought of in the program - and add 2 + 2 and get 8 like the messageboard now in this thread.

screw it ill take a chance on him the upside is too intrguing.

Couldn't disagree more.  This team needs as close to a sure thing in the first two rounds as it can get.

Taking a guy whose head may or may not be in the right place. That's an easy one to pass up for me.

Bad sign, the guy is lazy, looking for a payday, he want last in the NFL unless he change, he's doing all the wrong things that raise red flags for people that are about to commit a lot of money.

I draft him after #20, wouldn't touch him with the 8th pick.

I fear he'll be dead, in jail, or out of the league within 5 years.

Man some of these horror stories you hear about prospects before a draft. You’d think with potentially millions of dollars on the line they’d pull there heads in and just get through the process.

Carter dropping in the draft is exactly that.

And his agent dropped the ball, by not preparing Carter, and maybe to the tune of BIG $$ of his commission if he falls  in the draft..

depressed....very stressed...could be a bunch a reason.

Or it could just be that he no longer has Kirby holding him accountable.  Happened to a lot of players under Saban as well.  They usually don't work out to well in the nfl

He’s gonna plummet. He was already dealing with character concerns now he shows up to the biggest day of his life looking like a snail through his drills and weighing in as if he just finished an eating contest. Not a good look.

red flags are flying high right now. You can have all the talent in the world but if you are a lazy piece of poo no one will care and you will not succeed in the NFL.
