Really.  2 td.  2 int.  23 rushing yards a game.  1 percent completion percentage.  There is a difference, but it wasn’t a gaping chasm.

So there's GMs out there looking to pay Mariota 40-50 m per year?
Bro stop trying to convince yourself you'd be just as happy with Mariota as LJ.

And so y’all don’t kill me about Lamar,

where Jackson excels is first down conversions. I get that. I understand the hype.

I’m not even saying he’s not better, but it’s not as if he’s Patrick mahomes or someone we should give up most of our salary cap for.

Apparently there aren’t that many gms looking to give Jackson 50 mil a season based on what has happened since the tag.

Exactly - said he moves the chains and gets first down. He also throws a better more consistent long ball.

… which resulted in about the same statistics

It’s about time for the crazed Lamar running QB, bet the farm or we will all die portion of the fanbase to come to terms with reality. This almost certainly tells us that Ridder is the planned starting QB of the Falcons future, for next year if not next decade.

Let’s face it, no way this very intelligent, measured regime signs Hienecki to be our starter. They CLEARLY feel Ridder has the talent to be a legitimate starting QB. (Just as they’ve stated and was ignored) Sure, Hienecki could be the starter if for some reason Ridder implodes or gets injured, but after paying top back up QB contract on Hienecki, the regime CLEARLY has Ridder as their guy. No one they could draft would be ready game one, and the Lamar enthusiasts admitted this much that we could have started Ridder too early.

So it’s time to take a big whiff of the smelling salts, come back down to earth and accept reality. Ridder is our starting QB in 2023.

If it helps take the sting out and you want to pretend Hienecki was signed to be our starting QB, then so be it.

Im just relieved that this will close the chapter in the give the farm away to get a running QB who has terrible accuracy issues and ends too many seasons on IR.

I'm going to say this, but that doesn't mean I want it to happen, necessarily. I'm just going to say it to get a response. Here it is:

Is there ANY possibility that Desmond Ridder could be included in a trade package to Baltimore for Lamar Jackson?

Take NFL Network's Tom Pelissero's word for it. "Atlanta has said Desmond Ridder is the starter, and that's [Heinicke's contract] top-end backup money."

The Falcons aren't getting Lamar and Desmond Ridder is your 2023 starting QB.

Yep, it’s difficult for some to digest as displayed by the spell checkers, but it is what it is. The truth will set them free.

Absolutely - you never know. Hope not tho.

The Ravens would still win with Ridd

I want to believe they're going with Ridder. But... that thought is still stuck in my head and I was wondering if anyone else thought the possibility exists? That's all. LOL!

It's definitely a possibility but unlikely. We don't know what they're thinking especially AB
AB can see $$$$$$ and a sell out stadium. Don't for get Jersey sales....10+ wins for 2 #1s. It's got to be a possibility.
I hope not.

I'm totally against signing LJ, but to think he's not a winner or couldn't win here in the Atl because he's a running QB with terrible accuracy issues is totally asinine. He's been a league MVP and had completion percentages of 66% 64% 64% in three of his 5 seasons. Plus he won games with his legs extending plays over and over. The dude can ball.

I'm not about breaking the bank and giving up draft capital to acquire him, but let's not throw rocks now that this regime has moved on from him. He's a top 10 QB and will automatically win a team 10 games per yr doing his thing.

Once again, I said TF and AS were too smart to moratge the future as they almost did with D Watson. Lesson learned.

Lamar is a very very special player who can win a SB in the future. But let's not fool ourselves and act like he's a loser or just a flat out terrible passer.

ALLLLLL of this @Freddies 3rd Cuz !!!! If the Falcons roster were loaded with quality playmakers on defense and offense as well as the cap space, then yes you go for Lamar Jackson, who is a Top 10 QB in this league who ONLY has a couple of TEs to throw the ball to.  However, the Falcons needed quality players ALL OVER their roster. Therefore, it was not smart to bring in Jackson, not at this stage of the rebuilding of the roster.

I am also happy when the way the Falcons are building this team. But I also am not going to call Jackson some mediocre QB. Nope, he is not a Mahomes, but he is in that Top 10 list.

Now that he’s a Falcon I am going to start calling him Heineken. It’s only fair to get a nickname. He just happened to be born with one.

While here in the MD/DC/NVa area, I joked with a co-worker, who is a Washington fan, and called him Pabst Blue Ribbon.  I guess I should go back to his actual name.
