Popular Post gazoo
It’s about time for the crazed Lamar running QB, bet the farm or we will all die portion of the fanbase to come to terms with reality. This almost certainly tells us that Ridder is the planned starting QB of the Falcons future, for next year if not next decade. Let’s face it, no way this very intelligent, measured regime signs Hienecki to be our starter. They CLEARLY feel Ridder has the talent to be a legitimate starting QB. (Just as they’ve stated and was ignored) Sure, Hienecki could be the starter if for some reason Ridder implodes or gets injured, but after paying top back up QB contract on Hienecki, the regime CLEARLY has Ridder as their guy. No one they could draft would be ready game one, and the Lamar enthusiasts admitted this much that we could have started Ridder too early. So it’s time to take a big whiff of the smelling salts, come back down to earth and accept reality. Ridder is our starting QB in 2023. If it helps take the sting out and you want to pretend Hienecki was signed to be our starting QB, then so be it. Im just relieved that this will close the chapter in the give the farm away to get a running QB who has terrible accuracy issues and ends too many seasons on IR. Freddies 3rd Cuz
I'm totally against signing LJ, but to think he's not a winner or couldn't win here in the Atl because he's a running QB with terrible accuracy issues is totally asinine. He's been a league MVP and had completion percentages of 66% 64% 64% in three of his 5 seasons. Plus he won games with his legs extending plays over and over. The dude can ball. I'm not about breaking the bank and giving up draft capital to acquire him, but let's not throw rocks now that this regime has moved on from him. He's a top 10 QB and will automatically win a team 10 games per yr doing his thing. Once again, I said TF and AS were too smart to moratge the future as they almost did with D Watson. Lesson learned. Lamar is a very very special player who can win a SB in the future. But let's not fool ourselves and act like he's a loser or just a flat out terrible passer. A Dog Named Brian
Anybody with half a brain that read between the lines of all the TF/AS press conferences knew what we were trying to accomplish, no way were we going to mortgage the future to bring him in. For the first time in a long time we’re actually building this team correctly and I’m just sitting back and enjoying the show. Let’s make some noise this season 🥃 mountain_jim3, rounz, PokerSteve and 11 others 10 3

dirtybirds233
Take NFL Network's Tom Pelissero's word for it. "Atlanta has said Desmond Ridder is the starter, and that's [Heinicke's contract] top-end backup money." The Falcons aren't getting Lamar and Desmond Ridder is your 2023 starting QB. Killing Floor
Not a reality check for me. He only played 9 games this season but in 2021 he had more yards and more touchdowns than Lamar. Even if you include Jackson’s rushing. Not saying he is the GOAT, but he’s as good as he needs to be and I’m over the moon that we can move on from Lamar threads. Because he’s also not the GOAT. rugger8 and Tim Mazetti
Freddies 3rd Cuz
LJ contract hold up is the risk of injury. Once again, I didn't want him here for the price it would take, however, imagine MBS with Larmar running around making plays with not an empty seat and the Falcons winning games. Like old days in the dome, but so happy we passed. You know Blank had to refrain himself from offering TF AS an ultramatum.😙 jetpac and Killing Floor

rugger8
We still need to see what happens in the draft, but I like Ridder as a guy who can compete in camp, and come away successfully as our starter. This is part 1 of what I was hoping to see as our QB plan. Next, another mid rounder like Hooker or Max Duggan. EDIT: Good lord, I need to get back to posting again. Fans have to right to want better at the QB position. It’s just called being a fan. You don’t have to agree, just like we won’t agree that Mediocre Taylor makes us any better. The Falcon Jedi Knight
Heineki got a 2 year contract - which is a standard Backup QB contract. So there is no doubt Ridder is the projected starter. If it occurs that Heineki somehow wins the job (either by injury or performance) then obviously that 2 year contract will turn into a 5 year Starting QB contract.
