If FA goes well, why not trade up for Will Anderson?

The thing about Will Anderson though is that I noticed a good bit of his sacks came on plays where he was left unblocked.

He may turn out to be good, but I think he could be a bit overrated.

I just believe - from what little I know about Nielsen - he likes to get home w/ 4 rushers and Falcons will be looking more for the 6'4", 265lb guys to passrush than the 6'2.5" 245lb guys.    Will Anderson is a beast but he was stymied for a large portion of 2022 compared to 2021 - offenses made an adjustment to him.

If we get a lot of positions taken care of in free agency, on paper at least, then we should make a run at Anderson. Even if we had to trade up to #3 with Arizona and had to offer say our 2nd this year and a future 2nd-4th let's just say, then I'm all for it. Could end up only needing to go up to #5 with Seattle.

We can all agree he's a game changer waiting to happen in the NFL and helps get DE taken care of with a lackluster free agent pool at the position. Arizona and Seattle would be crazy to pass on him but for the right price, maybe they would.

Who says no?

If the Falcons are trading up it best be for Stroud. JMO.

You don’t trade up that high with QBs on the board because you are competing with this teams wanting a QB, therefor it drives up the value of those picks.  A pass rusher will never equal the value of a top potential QB.  We also have a TON of holes that will still need filled.  If we move at all it should be back to get more picks.  There are three reasons you trade up like that.  1) It’s for a QB, 2) You go all because you are one player away, 3) You are the Saints and have a skewed vision of how good you are and think you are a player away every year when you actually aren’t.

I think the last thing the Falcons should do is trade up in this particular draft.

One of the good things...in fact, the ONLY good thing...about having so many holes to fill, is that you don't have to go chasing picks for one single position.  They're sitting pretty good with the #8 because we know there will be at least two, maybe three qbs taken in the first 7 picks, so regardless of which direction they go, the Falcons should be picking up a quality player in the first round.

(Of course, I've said it before, and I still feel the best move to make is to trade back for more picks)

I didn't read your post before I posted...you said almost exactly what I did lol.

Tyree Wilson and Lukas Van Ness seem much more like Ryan Neilson type players.

This is the correct take. I like Anderson a ton, apparently more than most here.

BUT, you can't look at Ryan Neilson and think that Anderson or Nolan Smith will be guys who match his profile.

I think if Tyree Wilson is there, he's the pick. Otherwise, I'm hoping we luck into Gonzo.

I definitely don't see it being for a QB but there's a lot to like with Stroud. Would rather have Young myself but both have a ton of potential. It's not often teams trade up that high for a defender, to my recollection at least, but I wouldn't be mad at the right price

They said the exact same thing about Parsons…just saying.

You could see it with Parsons. People just ignored it due to his character concerns and saw he was a LB and got it confused with a traditional off-ball LB.

I actually compared him to Von Miller and Khalil Mack coming out. I personally just don't see that with Will Anderson. I mean he can still be a really good player, but he just seems overhyped right now.

Yeah man I hear ya. I didn’t say I agreed with those that said that about Parsons, just that they said it 😂

I’m not sure what to think of Anderson TBH. I may just be so desperate for this team to find another Abe that my vision is skewed and I support any chance at finding a stud. If we can trade 3 this year and 2 next year to move up for a guy, I’m down. Just hungry for a defense man.

I don't care what Nielsen does as long as he opens the whole playbook.

Adebawore from Northwestern is a guy I would keep an eye on for the Falcons to target at 44. He has the size and amazing athleticism. I could see the FO and Neilson wanting that guy in ATL. Neilson and Font gonna want their Cam Jordan here.

Skip trading up for anyone. Sit tight and add a cb. Bates, Terrell, Gonzales? No fly zone

Tipping passes to Bates all day long if they add Gonzales athleticism and range to the secondary.

your guy above and other guys like Tyree West and Keion White as well - bigger guys that can play edge and can passrush from interior position as well.   Power rushers and two-way go.
