Falcons decide not to tag Kaleb McGary, nor pursue Lamar Jackson per sources

You deny wanting Lamar Jackson now? Ok chief 😂

Let me make it easy for both of you. Be glad you got your guy in McGary and I will be glad when he can pass block.

Be glad the Falcons didn't sign him prior to letting him test his value. Instead of blindly throwing tons of money his way like so many of you supporters wanted to. Instead hope that he can live up to the contract he signed.

Be a Lamar supporter (Vandy), be a Lamar hater (Me), be a whatever you want to be. Just don't be a hindsight Mr. Know it all sitting on a fence waiting to see what grass is greener then avoid being called out about your stance. Vandy wants to call me out about McGary. I call him out about Lamar.

THE END

Show one post where I stated I wanted Lamar Jackson to ATL.

I’ve posted a few times before stating he was a great talent, that he was my fav QB in that 2018 draft, when pretty much everyone else (in here and elsewhere) dismissed him. Turns out I was right. And I see folks (my guess is you’re one of them) in here trying to dismiss him again.  And ya’ll be wrong about him again.

But it’s not like I’ve ever been an advocate in bringing him here to Atlanta.  He’d cost way too much in financial cap as well as in trade capital.  I’ve consistently stated we should build infrastructure here first while seeing if Ridder is the guy, and that if he isn’t we can deal with QB later. So you’re wrong once again, LJ coming here was never on my radar.

@falconidae tried to keep you from stepping in it and looking foolish. But you couldn’t help yourself and did it anyway.

Ok. So go on and on and on about how great a player is yet you don't want him in Atlanta 😂. I know I wouldn't want one of my favorite players to play in Atlanta 🙄.

Anyway, since it's an Atlanta Falcons forum and you don't want him in Atlanta (even though that is the discussion of every Lamar thread in TATF) isn't all that talk about him non related Falcons news then? So why discuss him at all if it's unrelated to the Falcons?

You know, the first rule about falling into a hole you dug  for yourself is to stop digging.   Neither Vandy or Mr. Biscuit wanted to pay McGary 18 mil a year. Neither of them wanted Lamar here, mainly because of the compensation required.  You can't find posts where either of them said that. You have wildly misunderstood what they were saying. You just need to stop, but you do you.

Ok. Since you can't mind your own business. I never said anyone said they wanted to pay McGary 18. So stop trying to push that. I did say Vandy wanted to overpay for McGary which I proved to you in a quote of him stating 15 million. I don't know what's so hard to understand about that. Or why you decided to ignore it. Agenda?

As for Vandy's "take" on Lamar? Fine. Ok, the guy who supported him in every FALCON thread (where people are going back and forth about him being a good decision for the Falcons or not) doesn't want him to be a Falcon. WOW!!! Want a cookie? Kudos to him. What would any logical person draw from the constant Lamar support in a FALCONS forum? In a FALCONS forum where we talk about The FALCONS. Or at least related to the FALCONS. Going on and on about a player who he doesn't even want as a Falcon is unrelated to the forum. All he's doing is supporting the people who want Lamar to Atlanta but not associating his name with them or the idea.

I'd like to just end this worthless conversation so I'm not going to reply to anything else on this topic. If getting the last word makes you both feel like you win congratulations. You win. This has been some of the most wasted time I have spent in my life.

First of all, I would love to see what Lamar can do with a very good coach/OC/schemer like Smith; i think he would easily be a top 3-5 QB every year because he is a true triple threat QB (great pocket thrower, great running/scrambling QB, and great improving/"throwing on the run"/creation QB).

Secondly, I feel very bad for Lamar because I seriously feel as if he is being manipulated by the NFLPA into thinking he is going to be the NFL's version of "Curt Flood: Agent of Change for the Better of Players", but in reality will just end up being a disregarded/sacrificed pawn of the Players Union. With this whole situation we keep hearing about "Collusion by the Owners" because they are all "refusing to give out large guaranteed contracts"; which i'd bet is almost certainly true, but I think there is more to it. I think the real topic and story here is the constant fight between NFL Players Association (NFLPA) and NFL-Owners (NFLO). Every few years NFLPA and NFLO fight and war over the Collective Bargaining Agreement to get as much power balance to go from one side to the other and I believe this Lamar situation is a tactic to fight for power from NFLO outside of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (or to set the battle ground for the next CBA). Just as its not a secret the NFLPA has an ongoing battle with the NFLO, the NFLPA also has an ongoing battle with Agents; they hate that negotiation power and money are going to Agents when the potential is there for both of those things to be going to NFLPA or Players themselves.

Consider this, Lamar doesn't have an Agent but has been getting guidance and contract/legal-advice from the NFLPA (there are several reports confirming this), Richard Sherman is one of the last big name players who was their own Agent without any type of other agent (and he is a member of the NFL Executive Committee) and has been very vocal about players not having an Agent, and if the NFLPA can create multiple success stories of Players making their own large guaranteed contracts then the battle for large guaranteed contracts go from a battle to an all out war (and a major bargaining chip for a future CBA). This is where I do worry that Lamar will be a martyr for this cause and end up not having a long term future (15+ years after they retire) all because the NFLPA is selling Lamar on some "Golden Future" and majorly down-playing the more realistic possibility that he is sacrificing his future for being just a footnote in NFL CBA History.
