Falcons decide not to tag Kaleb McGary, nor pursue Lamar Jackson per sources

Yep, not having Caleb will really hurt attendance...

Man, ain't nobody rushing home to watch Ridder and the Falcons if they have a choice to see Jackson and the Falcons win, lose or draw.

If they can’t get him resigned, I’ll consider that a big failure. Our group finally came together and they begin taking it apart.

I think people continue to overlook how overinflated McGary must be in his salary requests - he was not exactly a Pro Bowler this past season and did not even seem worthy of a 5th-year pickup this time last year.  Meanwhile , his buddy to his left was both.

Given how many pass-heavy offenses exist out there, I see very few that will be logical to pay him more than $15 million unless they are desperate and/or stupid (which is what we would have been to franchise tag him and pay $18 million).

Look for him to eventually resign with the Falcons with hopefully a 2-3 year contract for $14 million/year.

I’m curious though - will you change your avatar to Lamar Jackson in a Ravens uniform like you did Justin Fields in a Bears uniform when the Falcons didn’t get him?

So we find a solid tackle and..just let him go ? We have cap space, and that’s a major position, especially with a young QB that needs protection. Not sure what TF is thinking with this one.

TF and Co have someone else in their sights. Not too supset about this but the one thing is this line does have chemistry. Hopefully the new one develops it quickly together

IMO not giving him the 5th yr stated the club’s intention on how they feel about McGarry.I’ll be surprised if they go and give this guy a contract.

If Dimitroff was here he would overpay McGary -   TD felt if a player he drafted turned out, it was 100% imperative he be re-signed - as that justified his position as a GM.    It's always good when a player you draft turns out, but Dimitroff always overvalued them and wouldn't let them test the market - sometimes you just gotta take your comp pick and draft again - and find bargains.

TD never met a salary cap he couldn't bust.

Mickey Loomis if we think our cap is a disaster I’ve watched Loomis juggle his for what seems a decade and continually be competitive.
