NBC`s Peter King on Falcon Interest in Signing Lamar Jackson

Who says we are? It's still really early. They'll probably sign a career backup that has started at times. Depending on what we do in FA and if we go heavy defense in FA, I could see us trading up into the top five for a QB like Young or Stroud and packaging Ridder as part of the compensation. Pure speculation but I could see it.

Anything is possible but I’m more than confident of it.. zero doubts. Trying to find some places online I can put money on him being our starter come week 1

You saying we are trading up for a QB? Not saying you are wrong by any means, just trying to understand your take and what you want a wager on!

At some point when LJ is on another team not named the Falcons, it will stop.

As soon as that happens, FFMVP will make a thread titled:

"Would the Falcons have been better off trading for Lamar Jackson?"

followed by

"What would the Falcons record be if they had traded for Lamar Jackson?"

"If a team wants Jackson, it’s disguising its intentions well. I couldn’t find legit evidence of one in Indianapolis, talking to GMs and coaches and other club officials. There may be one (Jets? Falcons?) but I couldn’t find it."

If there is no legit evidence, I guess illegitimate evidence will have to do

Tried saying this a week or so ago when someone was saying there was a 'lot of smoke' around the Falcons and Lamar. No there isn't. It's literally just talking heads saying 'the Falcons have money and Lamar is unhappy. That could be where he ends up.' There has not been a single report that the Falcons are even interested.

EDIT: This isn't meant to say that it won't end up happening. Just pointing out that everything is speculation right now.

Discussing this type of stuff with people and other teams is tampering. Why would they? These would be internal discussions until either A] The Ravens slap the non-exlusive tag on him OR B] The ravens grant teams/lamar to talk with each other.

Anything being leaked about us interested/not interested is not likely internally. Just people trying to get clicks or set a narrative.

I get the excitement for Lamar Jackson but we have a unique opportunity to build a ball control offensive system around a tough and dominant running game around Desmond Ridder's skill set while he, Pitts and London are on rookie contracts. Not a lot of NFC teams are doing that right now let alone built to stop it which will make us a nightmare team to deal with. Spend that money on completing the o-line as it's really not far off, lock in Pruitt who came on with Ridder later in the year to round out the TE's and find a quality vet to secure the #2 spot, think a Sanu type. That run game is innovative and Allgier having an offseason to build an NFL body is going to be a sight to see next season if this is done right. Ridder just needs to be the point guard in a system like that.

On defense, load up on NFL level secondary players with this pass heavy NFL (NFC) even using the #8 pick on one if needed. I trust that an extra second of a QB struggling to find a place to throw the ball with top tier corners/safeties along with our new D-coordinator that specializes on the pass rush will get the pressure/sack game to the next level.

I hope the Falcons sign Lamar Jackson just to see this place implode like gassed off rail car. So many people making sure declarations and assumptions that the team WILL NEVER do such a thing, will be like pure sugar to me if the Falcons make a deal for him and get him.

Personally, I’m good with Ridder, but I wouldn’t DARE pretend like I know what’s going on in AB’s mind.

Yeah, I can't make the Falcons do anything either. I'll root for whoever is behind center in 2023, just think that Jackson makes little sense here.
