NBC`s Peter King on Falcon Interest in Signing Lamar Jackson

"If a team wants Jackson, it’s disguising its intentions well. I couldn’t find legit evidence of one in Indianapolis, talking to GMs and coaches and other club officials. There may be one (Jets? Falcons?) but I couldn’t find it."

If there is no legit evidence, I guess illegitimate evidence will have to do

Yeah there is no direct evidence because at this point, its all speculation and information echo chambers. Everyone speculates based on the fact that they were interested in Watson last year and now have cap space so that is supposed to automatically mean they are interested in Lamar this year. Maybe they are and maybe they aren't but its still all speculation. The one thing they all leave out though - they didn't want to pay Watson that contract last year so why would they want to pay Lamar the same contract (or more) this year? I think Blank is on record saying he didn't want to pay a QB more than 17% of the cap or something like that.

That would be consistent with the rumors that Baltimore will use the non-exclusive tag. It's risky to do that because the team that wants him only gives up two 1st rounders (Ravens would want a bigger haul than that). If they use the non-exclusive, it's evidence that they know other teams also aren't interested in guaranteeing all of a 200+ million contract. They can match any accepted offer that is less.

TF operates in stealth mode very well, remember the Calvin Ridley deal with the Eagles that was in play last year for a #1.

TF may have a deal in place for Lamar Jackson and is staying silent at least until tomorrow at 4:00pm and then they'll release the news but papers can't be filed with the league until 4:00pm March 15th.

I got that feeling you get just before your in-laws say they want to spend a week with you.

It's coming and some are going to cry for a long time.

some of us long timers have seen this team do so many ridiculous things throughout the years we won't be surprised at all. However, some may already be very close to just packing it up and heading on out and not saying a word at all

I’m starting to understand why Ravens best move is just the normal franchise tag. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of owners think he has priced himself off the market (and this decision will be made by owners not gms and not coaches).  Worst case scenario for Ravens is two first. Best case Lamar camp realizes how much they overplayed their hand and accepts an earlier offer

Yep.. Blank did say that. But that’ll get ignored so people can push whatever talking points they wanna speculate about.

C'mon guys. You know the drill. Big name qb isn't under contract so we need to capitalize on words and theories of him going to some team that just got rid of their franchise qb. **** the cost, **** the fact he's never led a more rounded team to the SB, **** all the common sense the falcons should be desperate and stupid enough to enter the conversation. Will free agency ever get here and go? Please 8lb baby Jesus lying in a manger make this go away.

Does anybody know if the Ravens can allow other team to talk to Lamar on the exclusive tag? I seem to recall that happening a few years back, but can't remember who.

I believe the whole point of it being called "exclusive" is because it excludes other teams from being able to negotiate with the player.

Me when I hear the Falcons aren't trying to make the dumbest move in history. Ok, I can still be a fan.

Me, when someone actually thinks that this could be more stupid than things we've done in the past.

I, for one, am shocked that we’re going to roll with Ridder next season. Never saw this coming

Who says we are? It's still really early. They'll probably sign a career backup that has started at times. Depending on what we do in FA and if we go heavy defense in FA, I could see us trading up into the top five for a QB like Young or Stroud and packaging Ridder as part of the compensation. Pure speculation but I could see it.
