After watching the combine I’m really excited about our # 8 pick

Recommended Posts

There just might be 4 QBs taken in the first 7 picks if that happens we are going to have our choice of top players at several positions of great need. If those QBs go so will Anderson and Carter that’s six picks that leaves only one pick not accounted for. We could have the best player in the draft whoever the Falcons think at the CB position, at the OL position, at the RB position, at WR position(I know, I know) at the LB position, at the S position, the second best in the DE position, and the second best at the DT position. Then on top of all that we could be in a prime spot to trade back! Yep very very excited!

True that, and OL CB and WR are super expensive in FA , with very little to choose from iMO.

This also goes for EDGE for very little to choose from...

So we are trading down and getting more picks good I like that

I wouldn’t be opposed.

I think we are getting a QB. If not in the draft then in free agency.

I don’t wanna go the free agency route personally, but I think that is where we are heading.

We can get a backup QB later in the draft. We found a starter in 3rd round last year. But I still think an aged vet would be best to back up Ridder.

Gardner Minshew

Minshew would be a great addition.

But having played 28 more games than Ridder, and accumulating a better QBR and YPA, he's likely going to want a fair chance to win the starting spot. Other teams are also looking for backups, so Atlanta would have to sell him on something.

Especially when he could instead go to Arizona and start to begin the season (Murray won't be recovered).

No reason he wouldn't get a fair shake to start here. He's not exactly a scheme fit though.

I had a feeling after the combine things would shake up a little bit and get us in this very position.  It’s a really good spot to be in. I’m thinking we could go OT, those are cornerstones and make a much bigger difference than many realize.

But yeah, CB is another that high that we’ll have our pick of the crop. And like like these CBs, another position where high play on rookie contracts help bigtime.

As far as edge, I just do t see anyone there at 8 worthy of that high of a pick so I think FA we’ll get a vet and keep drafting and developing guys like AK and Malone.

Scott Bair of AF.com says he doesn’t believe we’ll trade down. He thinks we have enough picks already this year (9) and wouldn’t want that many rookies.

I could see a trade down, giving them the extra ammo to trade back into late round 1. I agree with the point of having too many rookies.

Really Id be pretty surprised to see 4 QBs in the top 7 picks anyways. (Regarding original post)

Resign McGary. If they want an OT, pick Grandaddy Darnell Washington, a premiere blocker and big TE in the second.....or first.....I am all in on this player.

Skoronski's arms are a no-go. T-Rex.

TF said he'd fill needs through FA and build depth in the draft. This is the year when we find out if that was smoke or his actual philosophy.

Great. They are getting two OL...Maybe a LG starter and a starter/depth Center in FA. After they extend McGary.

Man, I dream about the day when we go for superior depth instead of fielding players who are *good enough* on the OL and DL. Tired of having five serviceable OL and 2-3 experienced journeymen backups on low contracts. Sign serious starters in FA but then, take BPA in the draft, even if it's for positions of strength. The worst that could happen would be a good-to-great player needing to see the field occasionally while playing behind a better one. Then, we can trade one in year 2 while trying to maintain the same level of depth.

Every freaking year, we have five guys who might be okay if nobody gets hurt - until one of them does and the whole **** thing falls apart. It only really worked when we got Harvey Dahl and he and Tyson Clabo turned out to be dynamite together. I wish Arthur would have told TD that Dahl and Clabo are not walking through that door so he could have stopped believing he did anything besides get lucky in 2007.
