It’s early but my predictions for the first 2 picks

Recommended Posts

AS and TF are big on familiarity and the one player this coaching staff has ties to is Spoon. Nielsen and Huxtable has connections with Spoon’s DC Aaron Henry from NC State. So I’m pounding the table for Spoon at 8.

The other guy I like at 44 is either Ojulari or FAU. Ojulari might not be there but if we hire Ed Orgeron as DL coach I can see that. Orgeron was with Nielsen at USC. Jerry Gray was in Minnesota with Rick Spielman who loves FAU.

So right now I’m looking at Spoon and either Ojulari or FAU as the first 2 picks.

I love reading peoples draft wants, and predictions.  I have my wants(DL,OL,WR,CB,S) and run it through my head when I lay down for a nap(yeah I'm old and need a nap).  Once Free-agency is over I'll start looking at mock drafts more serious.  I look at them now, and people have spent a lot of time and energy preparing them  with players that would be great for the roster.  I hate the waiting game.  Bring on Free-agency So we can all get a better idea which direction the team will go in the draft!

I had a big desire for Kancey in round 2, but Felix just went way up my list too.

There's a couple things that stand out with him: 1) very good recognition skills, and 2) he has to be mad strong, because on almost every play he's getting sacks through double teams or with a RB or TE adding a chip block on their way by (occasionally double teamed and a chip block and he still gets home - whoooooo!).

Haven't seen his ht/wt but he does look promising.

I added a few picks (and just a few trades) — ha!  It’s hard to see, unfortunately.  Devin Witherspoon, O’Cyrus Torrence, Drew Sanders, Darnell Wright, and FAU were my first 5 picks. Luke Wypler, Keeanu Benton, Jordan Battle, and Rashee Rice were a few others.  If only trades worked this way!

This year's draft is pretty simple to me.  If Ridder is our QB of the future, then we take best OL (preferably to me) but I also get best DL available.  If DR is not our QB for the future, we have to move and get our QB.  We are at 8 this year, with as bad as our division is and how our schedule looks we will likely finish better than 8th from the bottom (thus costing even more to move up).  We have to get our QB situation right so we can develop him along with our young receivers.  We could draft Bruce Smith at #8 and if it turns out DR is not the QB moving forward into 2024, in my opinion we drafted wrong.

Wait a second. The Falcons are thinking of hiring Ed Orgeron as DL coach? Who in the heck can understand a word he says.
