Falcons_Frenzy
https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2023-nfl-mock-draft-2-0-tyree-wilson-goes-before-will-anderson-j Pick 8 Atlanta Falcons Lukas Van Ness "I expect Van Ness to put on a show at the NFL Scouting Combine. He’ll start capturing a lot of attention after he tests in Indianapolis." This won't be a popular one for TATF and I totally get it. I think the biggest question is why wasn't he starting and how could a player who wasn't even a starter be looked at to go this high? Something doesn't add up. jidady
At #8, that's a huge overdraft. If somebody does that in the top 10, I hope it's not us. TheRisen999, Killing Floor, FalconJim and 4 others 2
kiwifalcon
6.38 boom or bust potential at 8 aye Daniel try again sunshine we don’t need that sought of player picking where we are maybe in the 4th round or something. Do you not like the Falcons Daniel 😂 TheRisen999, Falcons_Frenzy, FalconJim and 1 other 2
AustFalcon
Jeremiah has said this before - he is required to do a certain number of mock drafts. His final one is the one he believes in most and NFL.com expect there to be differences in each mock. So wait until close to the draft before taking any of his mocks too seriously. 804_Falconfan, Herr Doktor, Falcons_Frenzy and 5 others 4 3
DonDaLuvMaker
He's not the only one mocking Van Ness that high to the Falcons. Wished they had started him at Iowa so we'd know how good he actually is. FalconJim and labradford 1
Frank_The_Tank
I don't see this happening. Just feels like a reach to me. One of the things I hope to see from the Falcons now that they have money to play with is an intent to let the draft take care of certain positions and use FA to build up the ranks in others. So what that means to me is the Falcons could very well go after every position except RB in the 1st Rd, and therefore not reach for an edge simply because it's a perceived need of theirs today. Additionally, if they can find a willing partner, trading down and picking up some extra or future picks, go for it. Would not be a bad idea. Killing Floor
I like picking a FCS project in 2nd, who never faced a top athlete until NFL training camp WAY MORE than a position of DIRE NEED at 8 with a guy who didn’t start and is isn’t even ranked in the top of his position. This would be Terry’s final NFL draft if this happened. Lionzblade and nutsandbolts
INDFalcon
Why would Falcons draft a prospect at 8 instead of a starter. I think some of these writers just put some CR@p to provoke and to get some readership Falcons_Frenzy, rounz and Lionzblade
Killing Floor
It’s possible this project didn’t start because he’s just a sophomore. that explains his lack of experience. It does not explain why he’s in the draft in the first place. Falcons_Frenzy

He’s doing his job with a click bait headline. No way, with the current information available, does he believe Wilson is going ahead of Anderson. Matt_The Iceman_Ryan
For a Top 10 pick, none of the mock drafts matter right now until Free Agency occurs...its assumed a Top 10 pick is a starter... I think after the Falcons have spent $50-60 million in Free Agency, it will be clear the direction of a Top 10 pick... Right now if could be DE, DT, OT, S, LB

Artys Arryn
I'm not on board the Lukas Van Ness train, however some of these takes will be hilarious if we take Murphy and he busts while Van Ness goes on to have an All Pro career for a team picking in the teens. I'll say this for Van Ness, despite not being a starter at Iowa, I've seen flashes from him that make it obvious why he's in these discussions. DonDaLuvMaker
To be honest, if Nielsen believes he can develop Van Ness then why not? Trey Hendrickson is a similar style of player and Nielsen did wonders for him. Van Ness is slightly bigger and more of an athlete. Everyone will love the “reach” who ended up being worth it and becomes a good player. No one will love the player everyone thought would be good but ended up being mediocre. Exactly If the Falcons believe Van Ness is that guy and he becomes that then no one will remember it as a reach and TF would be looked at as a genius. Aluminafalcon
Will go out on a limb I like van ness more than wilson or Murphy. All three are similar profiles but van ness has least amount of time playing football but shows more heart and just as much ability. All three have significant bust potential but I think can ness can be that one that best molded into what neilsan thinks he could be DonDaLuvMaker

Rings
Outside the QBs, he may be one of the most polarizing players in this draft on where he should go. Vandy
