I love Ika. I don't think he makes it to the 3rd. Might not even make it to our 2nd pick.

yeah maybe - but thought the same last year w/ the Nose Tackle Travis Jones from Connecticut - he lasted to pick #3-076 when - of course - the Baltimore Ravens took him.    Outside of some special freak shows,  Nose Tackles can last until 3rd/4th rounds.

I initially had IKA as my 2nd round pick - but thought better of it and flipped the Left Tackle Jaelyn Duncan  - Left Tackles go quick.

I'd probably go with a rb for that last pick, but I wouldn't hate this draft at all.

Would be a solid first 5 rounds but I cringe at yet another 1st round DB or WR.  There are plenty of strong DL options between Anderson, Carter, Murphy, and Wilson that should be the pick over any of the CBs.  At least one should be available at 8.  Likely another DL or 2 that should be the pick over any CB also.  Solid CBs will be available in Rd 2 & 3.  Invest in the trenches.

Like it. Would be interested to see what FAs you’d pair with this? And letting McGary walk I presume?

yeah I don't know - just think Falcons need more offensive tackles - we have 1.5 now as McGary is terrible pass blocker.   Duncan plays LT but I'm assuming he could play RT.   Don't look now but Jake Matthews is 31 yrs old on Saturday.

the truth is corner is one of the harder positions to fill in the NFL - and one of the highest paid positions outside of QB and elite edge rushers.    If you can get a really high quality corner - they are worth the pick in the 1st round.

We have a "two way go" this year w/ free agency - we are going to be able to fill some needs.    Just looking to take BPAs  for most part.

I stopped in the 5th round - should have at least one more pick.   You can always pull quality running backs late - pretty happy with the 3 we have now in Patterson, Allgier and Huntley

As for BPA my point is that there are 4-6 DL that are BPA for this team over any CB in this draft.

Beyond that building a strong DL will not happen by signing quality FAs.  It will not happen by just drafting exceptional DL talent.  It will happen by signing quality FAs AND drafting exceptional DL talent AND developing that talent AND repeating that investment in DL year after year.  Look at our draft history and it's clear why we are about 5 years behind in building a strong DL.

Disagree.   Name the 4-5 D-Linemen in this 2023 NFL Draft that are better than Devon Witherspoon.

This off-season feels official now.

I was about to say the same **** 😆

I actually like this quite a bit. Already seeing the OMGZ U DIDNT TAKE DLINE WITH FIRST PICK stuff, but I think it a lot of scenarios, CB could be the best value. I also like taking a good OT prospect early, because you don't want to wait until you have a problem there to have a good prospect there. We definitely need a S, Grant seems up and down, and Hawkins seem to be JAG. I'd be happy if our draft played out this way.

I like all 3 as well.  Huntley had a very serious injury and I wouldn't mind finding some insurance.  Agree, that rb can be found late and we have an offensive system that caters to rbs.

honestly if we don't take a pass rusher in the first two picks in such a deep class it will be a bit of a disappointment

we have plenty of 4th round projects

It all comes down to maximizing the picks with talent.

We have cap room for vets and high draft picks.  Just take great players.   That’s how Dimitroff missed so much.

This seems like a pretty good exercise in picking the best talent at relative areas of need.

But the thing with picking a CB that high when you already have Terrell is that CB can't just be pretty good. He can't just be Desmond Truffant, and there is no shame in being Desmond Truffant. He has to be Sauce Gardner-level ridiculously good. You can't be picking a CB2 at #8. You have to be picked a high CB1 level player.

For the Falcons roster needs, picking a just pretty good DE has a lot less downside. While you may want to pick a TJ Watt-level player, if you only end up with a Preston Smith-level player, that's still a huge accomplishment for this team. He would instantly be the best DE they've had in 15 years.

I'm totally fine with letting McGary walk, I'd prefer it.  We need a RT that excels at both RB and PB, so settling on this guy is not something I want, especially with the contract he's going to get. I like the mock, but also interested in what FAs you're looking at.  Come on man, where are those FAs??

Dont forget, Falcons ahve two (2) 5th rounders...

I think you should be looking at players the Falcons coached at the East West Shrine game for those 4th and 5th rounders...most likely gonna be an OL, DL, and skill player from that group.

I love Witherspoon, but all of his snaps have been at outside CB...New Orleans ran 70% nickel last season with Nielson at DC...I think DB is very high on our list, but it will be more of a S/CB type if we dont go after a guy like Gardner-Johnson in FA (who has ties to Nielson and plays that role). I think in this scenario, Brian Branch would be more likley, however I honestly dont like him as much as I like Jordan Battle (more versatile for single high S looks).

Dont like the second round OT, but Im assuming this is to replace McGary...I prefer to keep McGary and upgrade the interior with JMS at OC, and let Hennessey, Dalman, and Mayfield figure it out at LG, or also draft OG in the 4th/5th round

Love the IDL player, but I firmly beleive after FA (since that is where the value is for it), we will have at least one of DaRon Payne, Sheldon Rankins, or David Onyemata...maybe two of them? I just think DL if not the LDE spot, is gonna come from those Shrine BOwl guys like Turner, Stills, etc.

WR is where its gonna get picked...you can fixate on whoever there...

Right now, I've got (re-signing McGary, Rashaan Evans, Mycole Pruitt; signing DaRon Payne IDL, Marcus Davenport EDGE, Kentavious Street EDGE, Gardner-Johnson NB, Germaine Pratt ILB; fillout rest of roster)

1. (trade back with NYJ - they want QB; 13, 74, 111) Michael Mayer TE Notre Dame - You know this is who AS wants on his team - puts Pitts outside

2. John Michael Schmitz OC Minnesota -plug and play OC with great RBK attributes/experience

2. (trade NYJ picks 74, 111, ATL 2023 7th rounder, 2024 4th rounder) Zach Harrison EDGE Ohio State - measures galore and perfect LDE

3. Keondre Coburn NT Texas - coached at East/West Shrine; great run defender

4. AT Perry WR Wake Forest - solid #3 receiving option (play #2 WR), coached at East/West Shrine

4. Aiden O'Connell QB Purdue - coached at East/West, solid backup option at QB

5. Chandler Zavala OG NC State - really, really good PBK LG with upside; coached at East/West Shrine

5. Tavion Thomas RB Utah - 6'1" 245lb running back that can be help with load management and wear down teams - coached at East/West Shrine
