Falcons Fan MVP
I've heard several Falcons fans say that Arthur Smith needs to hire a real offensive coordinator. It doesn't look like it's going to happen this off-season but..... Do you think that Arthur Smith should hire an offensive coordinator to help him out? Or do you think he should keep it the way it is? Your thoughts?
PokerSteve
I know it does work for some teams, but I would prefer our HC to concentrate on HC duties. Find someone you trust with that, give them the job and let them do it while you be the HC. Killing Floor
I don’t know. Maybe Ragone is the OG OC or maybe not. All I know is he’s been pretty invisible on game day. We know Smith has a lot of fun making the calls. I think the bigger question is whether AS would yield some of the play calling. If he doesn’t let someone else make calls it really doesn’t matter as much who is in the booth. A lot of coaches are better suited as coordinators and not head coaches. red falcon and Falcons Fan MVP 1

gHost83
I prefer having the head coach be the play caller. Why? Because we don't have to worry about the OC leaving after having a good year or 2 for a head coaching job elsewhere. Sui_Generis
Stack the defensive side so AS can concentrate fully on offense. Both players and staff. AS is fine. He needs a piece or 2 on offense, but the defense all around needs help. His last 2 coaching hires plus FA will remedy some of it. Continue to build. Stick to the plan. Arrow is pointing up. Durrty
Dave Ragone’s title is OC, but his main role is formulating the weekly gameplans…AS handles the play calling, aaand I’m ok with it staying that way. Lornoth
The big joy when we hired Smith was that he could call the plays and we wouldn't be switching OC's every two years like we did most of Ryan's career, so I'd like to keep that perk. BTW calling plays on offense as a HC is WAY different to calling plays on defense as HC. Freddies 3rd Cuz

You know, Kliff Kingsbury lost his HC job probably because of his insistence on calling the offensive plays. So it can work the other way too, when you implode on offense like the Cards did then sometimes you lose your HC when you fire the OC. 😄 PokerSteve
