What are we getting with Jerry Gray..

Recommended Posts

Some great stuff from this article.  I am pulling out the highlights but you can read the whole thing here:

https://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2023/01/30/green-bay-packers-defensive-backs-coach-jerry-gray-reportedly-leaving/69856267007/

Over the past two and a half decades, as both a defensive coordinator and defensive backs/secondary coach, Gray has led defenses to top-10 league rankings in scoring defense 10 times, in overall defense 11 times and in passing defense 12 times.

‐--------

Under Gray, the Packers' secondary has always finished in the top 10 in the league in fewest passing yards allowed (seventh, 10th and sixth respectively).

‐--------

Gray, “OG” as he’s known to those in his unit, was the steady force at all times and a fire when necessary. When the Packers were trailing the Miami Dolphins in Week 16, Gray sparked the comeback at halftime, with a speech that led to a three-turnover second half and a win.

‐--------

So now we have a multi-time top 10 front end coach with Nielsen and a multi-time top 10 back end guy in Gray.  Let's hope when you put them together, add some more talent and shake things up we finally have a good defense in Atlanta.
