I see the conspiracy theorists are already at it, apparently the narrative starting to take shape is none of the good ones wanted to come here so we had to settle for table scraps.

My goodness, check this guy out, he’s got a phenomenal track record and ties to TF. He’s young, creative, and his defenses have been consistently great.

To be quite fair, if we had the Saints D last year we'd have been in the playoffs!

Was a little underwhelmed at first announcement (considering Fangio, Flores, etc), but the more I think about it, the more I like:

1) Weakening a hated Division rival

2) Having a nasty D like the... You know, that team...

3) Hopefully at least 2-3 years before he starts getting HC mentions...

The question is.... How much is he responsible for that success?

Was he calling plays?

A red flag is anytime somebody is a CO-anything.

Did he call first and second down and then give up play calling on 3rd or vice versa?

I doubt he was calling plays with Allen there.

Technically, Saints had like 3 DC's, if you count Dennis Allen...

Nielson prolly excited to run the show... And I'm excited to part ways with our terrible defensive positional coaches...

He made his chops as a hard-***, in-your-face DL coach. He will turn these young guys into QB assassins.

Here's an interesting piece of information. Ryan Nielson was the DL coach at NC State 2014 - 2016 and had 1 year of overlap with Dewayne Ledford when he was the OL coach from 2016 - 2018.

Another thing that gets lost is that Terry Fontenot already knows the kind of guys that Nielson likes to work with due to his years with the Saints.

I'm pretty sure that if we all made a collective list that he would be very low on the totem pole of guys that we wanted the team to hire.

But as I keep saying I really don't care who calls the plays.... I just want to see the team win.

If he can help us do that in 2023 then great.

He would have never even made the list. Comical how many are saying this is a great hire. Same thing happens when we sign some scrub off the streets, so there's that.

Like how suddenly TF was the GM of the Saints and Loomis was just hanging out..lol.

So does that mean the Falcons are still sticking with Pees system under Nielsen?

I doubt it with us releasing our OLB coach, DL coach, and secondary coach. Shultz just doing his normal not making sense argument again
