Ade Ogundeji - Who’s been watching him closely?

Recommended Posts

At beginning of season Pees was very high on Ade and coaches mentioned him during camp at times as players to watch for this season, but he just didn’t ever jump out at me this season. No forced fumbles, only 2 sacks, 3 TFL, 1 QB Hit, he’s just not making a lot of plays. He did have 42 tackles and is ok against the run, but we need way more out of that position from a starter. Ebiketie did start playing more as season went on.

Anyone key in on his play throughout the year more than me? The stats above correlate to what I saw on the field.

I'm at the point where I'm shocked anytime he does make a play

It’s not a position you want silence from. I don’t recall his name ever being mentioned during game broadcasts except “…made the tackle”

Need some number of big plays from that position. 3 TFL and 2 sacks do not cut it.

This is kind of what I’m getting at, is he even solid backup. I think answer is he’s on the fringe as a solid backup.

He has (theoretically) one more year to show he is capable of being an impact player, even if that is as a back-up. But, with so little to show for his first two years, I don't believe he's guaranteed a roster spot next season if we get anybody in that appears to have more potential, even if it's a UDFA.

He could make a jump. As we know linemen have a huge learning curve from college to the pros. He has the physical tools. Here's to hoping increased competition next year ignites dormant potential. There are surprises every year, maybe he is next years surprise.

What do I think of Ade Ogundeji?

He’s a Falcons linebacker. If I’m being honest, he’s as good or as bad as anyone in our LB room. We really haven’t had a grown man LB on the in, out, blind, nickel, or edge in 6-7 years. It’s just a fact. Not one of our roster linebacker players would play a down on any XFL or USFL team. Ade is fine, he’s an average Falcons linebacker.

Malone should have gotten his snaps.

I really think there was something wrong with the defensive coaching on this team. It makes no sense how unprepared and held back they look at times. Just watching everyone try and blitz up the middle the last two years was so frustrating. Are they being coached to run into the blockers or their own teammates? I watch other teams and their guys shoot right through the gaps. Falcon blitzers wait a second or two and then run right into Grady Jarrett's triple team.

I’ve watched him a lot. Simply because I’m in awe every time he’s on the field. If he does anything ok, I guess it would be setting an edge?? Idk.  But I’ve watched him fall flat on his face pass rushing, to simply have the tackle stand there and look at him. Don’t even see a reason he’s still here other than we needed bodies, I don’t know. Oh and the last sack of the season he had, the qb literally ran into him

That’s were I’m at. Every time I watched him, he looked like the guys in the fourth quarter of a preseason game. Scrub City.

I was hoping he would shine this season, but I didn't hear his name called out a lot and occasionally I saw him make a play.

He’s a strong side end. Shadows the te. They do alot of important things that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. Outside contain. Take on blockers. Usually a big  **** strong dude who won’t allow teams to run sweeps and te’s to release freely on pass routes or ride them or tackles so they can’t block linebackers. Means was that guy and the guy we got from Kansas City a couple years back. If you look at Tennessee they had a couple of similar guys. You bring in another guy like Ak47 Malone on passing downs.
