NorthGaBoy
The Falcons are in a rebuild. The cap for 2023 is approximately $75M. We need a lot of roster work on offense and defense to build a champion. How will this be done? I would like to see approximately 20 upgrades. You may think this number is too great or too small. But, I am not in the Falcons organization and need to start somewhere. Currently, in my estimation, we likely have more players making approximately $1M than any other team. If we do not have the most, we are probably in the running. We have a lot. TF did a masterful job of building the 2022 roster with our cap limitation. Back to those 20 upgrades; what will they cost? Of course some will cost more than others. I think we will acquire a QB to compete with Ridder and likely become our backup. The average QB salary in the NFL is approximately $7M. If we hire a vet, we will pay close to that number. If we draft a rookie, it will be less initially. A rookie's salary + will of course escalate and the Falcons will have to budget for that. So, let's assume vet at $7M. That will leave our cap at $68M. The average salary for those 20 upgrades will be between $2.5M and $3M. For now,. let's guess at $2.75M. That will total $55M. We must spend that $55M if we want a chance to be a contender. Now, a little math. $75M -($7M+55M), or $75M - $62M will leave us with $13M in cap space. Now, before you get excited about a big splash player, remember, sheet happens. We need that $13M for contingencies. We have a lot of cap, but we have a lot of needs. We will spend that money. If the right players come available, I would not mind seeing the Falcons spend that down to single digit cap. But, it is foolish to spend it all before the season starts. We cannot afford the big splash player. We have to rebuild this team. Can we sign a $20M or $40M player before this roster is built properly? If so, how? TheUsualStuff
20 upgrades? Assuming some upgrades would relegate current starters to back up or supporting roles, I think claiming 20 upgrades are needed is a bit crazy and unrealistic. If we upgrade half that it would be tremendous, and that includes depth moves. Chitown2ATL_Falcon, Diesel_Bird, Slimm and 1 other
ShmevinShmarris
You realize there are 22 starters right? ratesforless, Slimm, Thiccolas Cage and 2 others 2
Mister pudding
Your topic sentence was fine, got my interest... However, I thought you would have put some thought into these 20 guys, the who and how you would upgrade See you on page 2 🤣 Rings, Diesel_Bird and Slimm 1

We carry approximately 60 players. 60/3 = 20. Quote You realize there are 22 starters right? I don't think we can analyze this just based on starters. As I said earlier, sheet happens. We need better starters and we need better depth. Quote Your topic sentence was fine, got my interest... Maybe we should do that on page 2. I can think of numerous positions that need 2 players added. You may be shocked to hear that RB is one of them. Will Huntley come back the same? Can CP do it again? I expect more than 50% turnover in the WR group. We need depth at almost every spot on the OL. I would like to add 4 new players to the DL. We need better depth at LB, CB, and safety. We have a lot of building to do before we are built.

If so, how? 1) Mariota clears 12.5m bringing us to 87.5m 2) you are not accounting for resignings, extensions, contract restructures, etc. no one truly knows what we will have to play with until later 3) we are not getting 20 upgrades 4) if you think we are getting 20 upgrades post them to give us an idea of what this would look like 5) back to cap space. If we signed 20 people others are getting cut. That adds cap space. You did not account for this Lethal

Drunken Minotaur Zebra
Jokingly I'd say 20 of our 22 starters could be replaced. Realistically you're probably not far off. Beyond our obvious "guys" like Matthews, Lindstrom, London, Allgeier, Jarrett, Terrell... I wouldn't even put McGary in the "can't be replaced" group... if he wants a bag we can find a better pass pro RT in the draft to line up alongside Lindstrom.
