Our best bet might be to resign McGary, sign a stud LG and let Dalman and Hennessy battle at C. I've never thought Henny was that bad personally. autigerfan
We've got pieces on offense. Outside of AJ and Grady, maybe Grant the cupboard is pretty bare on defense. Stryka

We need to keep the continuity. Good offenses have chemistry and continuity on the OL. McGary earned a 2nd contract. The question is whether this year forebodes his future or was it an outlier because it was a contract year. Hopefully his contract reflects realistically and has bonuses staged for success and on merit instead of just paying him a kings ransom because it’s market value autigerfan
Arturo.Zise
Would us refusing to pick up McGary's 5th year option work against us, or is he a dude that won't hold a grudge?

I say he will hit the open market at least to get the most leverage in any negotiation. He's probably not as good as McGlinchey, so I doubt his market value is in the same range as him but some teams may view him as a fallback. Yeah PFF is famous for having these bizarre outlier scores that bear no resemblance to the performance you saw watching the game. Doubt there are but a handful of past GMs that had as long as he had, and delivered so little to its fanbase.

Didn't he build two super bowl caliber teams?

Blank insisted on Ryan, maybe give him credit for Turner, and Julio was definitely his idea, but his early drafts from 2009 onward were so bad that he was basically relegated to a PR position the latter years of his tenure. His Free Agent signings did not fare much better. Have you ever seen a GM surrounded by so many previous GMs. Blank liked him and did not want to get rid of him, so he pushed him into a PR role, where he seemed to handle himself appropriately. Yes, that is a 'high bar' indeed. Look all the NFL GMs that have ever lived. How many had 13-year careers? I bet if they were around that long that they sniffed a SB. Wouldn't you say? TD was like a member of the Blank family, and kept around the organization. He was not any kind of major decision maker in the latter years, because everything he touched turned to ****. The 2016 draft that helped propel the Falcons to the SB was not his draft, it was Pioli's draft. Just some helpful information.
