I’m not sure what else TA could have done yesterday. Maybe they docked him for hitting Rids arm and causing that fumble?

I think it's more to do with the line and playcalling than anything else...

FINAL WORD

Rushing success is often determined by a rusher’s run blocking, play calling, and the quality of the defense, so there are plenty of times where a player’s grade will not match up perfectly with his statistics. Our goal is to isolate the running back’s contribution to that production, and the runners with the highest grades are those who produce above expectation and outside what the run blocking or scheme allows.

So, essentially, he got penalized for playing behind a good line?

Yep.  That last line.  Runners with the highest grades are those who produce above expectation so I am thinking TA's EPA was pretty high.  Line did their jobs.

Armstrong looked good yesterday. He’s come a long way. Maybe he just needed some burn to get that experience.

Dude's first start was as the #1 corner against the Bengals.  That will teach you right away.

No, but the point of the grading system is to grade each player individually and grade them above or below expecations from say a league average player.  The grading system is from -2 to positive 2 in 0.5 increments with 0 being expected.  If there is a massive hole and he runs through it and gets what is expected...aka what a league average player would get, that would be a zero grade.  So it didn't hurt him, but it also didn't help him.

Did the buccs play/start any of their backups? If so, it could be skewing the numbers a bit. Armstrong on paper did well but taking his play throughout the year into account, I feel this is an outlier.

Yeah, having one solid game all year does not indicate to me at all that he has what it takes to be CB2.

#Falcons PFF Offensive Line 2022-2023 (Grade, Rank/Out Of)

G Chris Lindstrom - 95.0, 1/136
OT Kaleb McGary - 86.6, 4/141
OT Jake Matthews - 77.2, 17/141
G Matt Hennessy - 75.4, 8/136
C Drew Dalman - 65.9, 15/57

i'd hate to break up this unit to be quite honest.

I would be wary about letting McGary walk.

Chicago is going to be looking to upgrade their oline and it looks like they're going to have almost twice as much cap space to work with.

it looks like they have a lot more cap, i'd hate to break up the line i think they've built quite the chemistry and another year would make it even better.

Cornell Armstrong's 2022 PFF seasonal grade is a 57.2

If we cut Mariota and Hayward we get to about 91m in space.  We cannot compete with the Bears and their 120m in space, but it helps bridge the gap.

I think Kaleb is an obvious resign.

Lindstrom crushing.

Andersen needs to make a leap in offseason. He has flashes.

Troy Andersen did flash his athleticism on some plays, but he was also a non-factor in many plays.  His consistency, awareness, recognition skills, instincts, and reaction time need a lot of work, which is expected with someone so raw. Andersen's 2022 PFF grade is just 40.2

In my experience as a fan "experiments" with raw player's RARELY pan out. I hope Andersen is an exception but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I’m not terribly opposed to signing McGary back but with a weak free agency class at tackle we might have to overpay a bit. I just hope he doesn’t pull a Sam Baker

Does anyone happen to know PFF's Pass Protection grade for McGary in this game and for the year? He can look ok in pass protection on some snaps, but can get completely destroyed in other snaps, like yesterday when Akeem Hicks blew him up.
