Drake's Fumbles

Recommended Posts

One observation I had was he was always wearing loose sleeves, and remember from my football days sleeves always made it harder to hold on to the ball because the cloth and football didn't really grip. I noticed after the fumble this past sunday he ripped the sleeves off before the next possession. I don't think we should worry too much from now on if he leaves the sleeves off

Three fumbles that were lost in some key situations. Only time will tell if the issue is basically fixed.

A lot of players say that the sleeves make it harder to hold onto the ball. To be fair on the last fumble against BAL, he tried to cover the ball with both hands, but it was a perfect punch to the ball that knocked it out. He didn't have fumbling issues in college so I don't think it'll be a problem going forward.

I suspect he will be fine. I remember when Roddy first came into the NFL he had an issue with drops. He worked on it and became on of the best WRs in Falcons history. From what I’ve seen from Drake, he attacks the ball when it’s in the air, he doesn’t wait for it to get to him. He’s also unbelievably athletic (you can tell he was a basketball player), great eye-hand coordination (his one-handed catches have been amazing). I think Drake will be a true #1 and will be an amazing WR for us.

,3 fumbles.....

2 of them I don't fault him....

Defensive player of the year ripped the **** out the ball....he couldn't have helped that...

Perfect peanut Tillman punch out ....he couldn't have helped that....

Sleeve or no sleeve.....Drake does not have a fumbling problem...

He'll be fine..

That last fumble falls into the category of once you are known to do it, defenders are looking to punch more just because.

And that is exactly what happened there.

With that said, he has ripped the hearts out of us three times!

DPOTY - He could’ve gotten down or out of bounds. He already had the first down. He could’ve helped that and hopefully learned from it.

I hear you....but most of the time a receiver is going to go down to avoid a big hit.....

This is football.... you're going to fight for every inch....no one would be talking if he broke through and scored...

It's the same reason we celebrate when the RB doesn't go down and all of a sudden the linemen comes in and pushes him into the end zone....

Guess what??? That doesn't happen if the RB decides to go down because he thinks he's done enough...

We're taught to fight until the whistle is blown..

Yeah. Humphrey made an awesome play. London actually had the ball covered well. The fumble last week and I believe vs the Chargers earlier was London trying to do much and didn't secure it well enough.

NFL players are too good and you'll pay a lot of the time if you go out there trying to do much, especially when London's fumbles in those previous games were at very critical moments. Defenses will only be that much more aggressive going for the ball in those moments.

He'll be fine. Let's appreciate the fact we finally have a true #1 WR that looks like he belongs out there.

The elephant in the room. He may or may not fix it, I hope he does. What bothers me is all three were game killing fumbles at a time when it mattered.

As they all directly took points off the board that would have either sealed the game or made it VERY DIFFICULT to come back.

But, but, but hindsight is 20-20!! He shoulda caught the ball and instantly collapsed to the turf on this one specific play!!! 😁

I don't understand stupidity.... nothing about his play needs humbling....bad choice of words...

If you were offended by my bad choice of words....I apologize....

It wasn't my intent...

No I wasn't offended, thanks for the apology but it's not necessary, I have thick feathers.

What I meant by the fumbles should humble him, is some young rookies come in with the big head and think they are perfect and that the QB ain't doing enough to get them the ball but when the ball come and they drop it, it lets them know that things happen and they need to work harder to do better, just like the QB needs to work harder. I seen his reaction when Mariota missed him on a number of plays.
