I didn’t see it. I thought dude was gonna have a heart attack on about 3 or 4 of those blown calls by the zebras.

Yeah, me too, as he should have. But going for it on a long 4th at midfield in the first? Come on man. That's a panic move. Lots of outside runs with CP when you have Allgeier? Plenty of wacky hairbrained play calls.

The offense passing more is not the issue. I'm glad he is. But there's a difference between passing more for the heck of it and calling right plays at the right time, having more high percentage throws, and having a good feel of the passing game. IMO, AS can be better. That's all I'm saying.

How do you know that the plays that didn't get executed wasn't the right play? Most, if not all passing plays have more than one read. It's very possible that the right play was called and the QB made the wrong read, or the ball was thrown late, or the receiver messed up the route. Lots of factors to consider, so unless I know what's going on and I know what the assignments are supposed to be (which I won't cause I'm not gonna be studying the All-22), not ready to lay all the blame at Smith's feet.

Same goes for Pees.

He's done a lot of good. He's got some early Smitty in him. He's changed the culture, has a disciplined team, and a great running game. I think he's the right guy. He needs more talent on both sides of the ball. Most of us fans know we need it. The passing game will have to evolve next year to take the next step and AS and the talent both have to improve.

No agree he has been bad.. getting really cute and trying to force a ridder passing TD for no reason

Yeah to me there's no good feel and not enough variations in playcalling/routes. It's fairly straightforward that gets defended easily. Better talent will alleviate some problems. I can admit that. But there's more to be corrected.

I wonder if we should have hired kcs offensive coordinator

I don’t think our problem is an incapable OC. I think Smith struggles to utilize an OC, he wants to call the game and the preparation. I think if we had Bieniemy as an OC he’d do the same as Ragone is doing, toeing the line. Smith needs to learn to trust the people he has hired.
