I hate being that guy, but can we just lose out please?

Look….. a week ago I was like…. Ok.  We still have a small shot long as we win out and the Bengals beat the Bucs.  They did.  But we lost.  There is no way the Bucs will lose to either the Cardinals without a starting QB, or the Panthers.  The NFL just won’t allow that to happen.  So our best bet for the future is to lose out. I know it hurts peoples feelings to think that way, and to say that.  But it’s factual. If I am wrong in my thoughts please someone help explain to me how.

I get it. You play to win, but at what point do you look to the future?  I’m as big a fan as any of you. Entire man cave decked out. Even signed jerseys on the wall from Crumpler, White and Finneran….. I just want to look forward.

Winning is what’s best for the future. We need a winning culture that attracts free agents and develops draft picks. We’re not trying to be the next Lions/Browns.

You look to the future by developing a winning culture. You look to the future by developing your players. You look to the future by instilling good habits. You look to the future by doing everything in your power to win the next game.

Bro this is a very dangerous mentality to ask athletes to adopt.

He is hoping they lose out not suggesting they lose out on purpose.

That doesnt even make sense that you would think he meant that.

These team has little to no talent. Draft picks are gonna be taking these players' jobs

Lose, but lose with intent.  There is no such thing as a winner's attitude.  Winning doesn't bring on more winning, talent does.  Isn't that what the board says? They try hard but our roster is devoid of talent?  For the last three games put the players on the field that have talent and are developing talent.  More AK, more Malone.  See what you have and get those guys more game time experience.  Try out new plays or coverages against another NFL team.  Get a higher pick in every round of the draft.  You may pick a bust but the higher you pick, the larger pool of players you have to choose from. Most good young free agents aren't chasing a ring they're chasing that bag for their first big contract and they don't care a bit about the wins but how many numbers are infront of that 2nd comma in their contract.  Don't lose just to lose, do it with purpose with getting players game time action.

Completely agree. The goal is to win a Super Bowl. This is not a Super Bowl contending team. The only reason they have any shot at the playoffs is because the whole division is trash. So if the goal is to win a Super Bowl, but it's clear that you won't, why not start looking and building for the future? Put younger guys out there and see what you have. Try new things. It will only help you develop the talent you have and show you what you actually have on your team. Winning pointless games at the end of this year will have no affect on the team next year. Winning doesn't breed more winning, talent does. I think this team has proven that too many times.
