falcon app
I see a lot of very positive threads with reasons why Ridder will be great. The positivity is obviously welcome, but we have to be careful about setting ourselves up for disappointment by setting the bar too high for the rookie. Jalen Hurts, for example, played four games in 2020, going 1-3 with a 52% completion percentage, four touchdowns, and 77.9 QBR. Ridder can come in and have similar stats and we would still not need to panic, especially if the FO has a clear plan to build around him. AS's offense is obviously not based on too much passing, especially deep passes, and thus, like the Eagles, there is a universe where Ridder is not Mahomes as has been suggested, but the team is doing well enough that we think we can win it all with him. This is not to say that Ridder will definitely be a success like Hurts in the long run, but we have to give him at least until the end of next season, with hopefully a better team, before we start calling for his head. Ridder wouldn't have been pulled in the National Championship in favor of Tua.... Edit-And you don't get Arthur Smith's offense if you don't think its built on deep passes. The run setting up the play action deep passing game is literally the point and how Ryan Tannehill was reborn in Tennessee. It should not be judged by one year of Mariota's shortcomings. What difference does it make if someone does start spewing nonsense? It has no bearing on the team. On this board, you're likely to see positive nonsense and negative nonsense posted. falconsd56

youngbloodz
Cam Newton threw for over 400 yards in his first start and Matt Ryan threw a TD in his first career pass attempt. If Ridder doesn’t accomplish more than that he should be cut before the half😎 EddieK
Killing Floor
56 seasons in history. Only 17 .500 or better W/L seasons. 50 years since I recognized I am a Falcs fan. 1,794 days since Last Winning Record. 1,924 days since last opening game win. Are you SERIOUS with this patience stuff? Falcons fans are like watching a glacier move. We’ve been patient. We’re always patient. I get what you’re saying but we would have locked up the division of Mariota got benched a month ago. Kinda tired of always being patient. falconsd56
As long as he shows that the can handle it then there will be patience. If he shows that he can (remains calm in the pocket, makes the routine plays, makes the easy reads etc.) He is going to make mistakes but if he shows that the game isn't to big for him then patience will be there. If not..if he looks rattled at pressure, misses easy throws and reads and just seems confused then that will be evident pretty quickly.
