Sorry about that first link.  Youtube advanced on me while I was opening this thread.  That was the 2018 game.  This is the 2017 debut.

Well, this time I put a link inside a quote.  Yes, I am perfectly sober.  The link works from inside the quote, so enjoy.  I will see myself out.

Maybe someone can clear some of this up.  I think one of these recordings is titled incorrectly.  Ridder was a 5 year student at the University of Cincinnati from 2017 to 2021.  In 2017, Ridder was a redshirt freshman.  It was my understanding that a redshirt freshman was similar to a NFL IR player.  You can attend meetings, practice, but cannot play in a game.  I have read on several sites that Ridder replaced Moore in his redshirt freshman year.  I believe that was 2017.  These two recordings show the same plays and both are tagged as the Chip Kelly debut as UCLA HC.  One is tagged as 2017 and one is tagged as 2018.  Can anyone clear this up.

I don't mean to derail my own thread.  I just want to get things cleared up.  Back to the important question.  What do you think of the poise and performance of Desmond Ridder?

It was the 2018 season opener. both games are the same game. Ridder never played in 2017 as he was a redshirt.

As for how he played - he barely did much. As to be expected of someone jumping into a game they were not planning to start. They ran the ball down the throats of UCLA all game no need to pass either.

He played as a redshirt freshman meaning 2018 not true freshman which would be 2017.

I am also worried.  What do you think this OP is doing?  I cannot guess.  I don't know this dude.

Make sure OP knows that a redshirt freshman is a college sophomore who didnt play his first year and I'm sure everything will work its way out lol.

That clears it up.  I He did misunderstand this.  The game was played in 2018 even though one is labeled 2017.  I will straighten this out with OP.  You have to watch these guys.

I think both poise and performance were excellent, especially for a rookie playing his first game in the Rose Bowl. There were no outward signs of nerves, uncertainty handing the ball off, in his passes or hesitation when he kept the ball and ran. It also appeared he gave the offense and the defense a spark with his play. Had I been the Cincy coach, would have stayed with him for the next game for sure.

Honestly, he led the team to a victory (which is all that matters) but only had one impressive pass.  The rest were just dump offs where the receiver made a play.  The RB scored three TDs and the defense got a safety.  He managed the game well (no doubt) but I wasn't blown away by him in this specific video.

If he doesn't make mistakes in NO and manages the game like he did in this video, we will only walk away with a Dub if the RBs and defense play really well.
