No more agendas please

I hope this thread does not get moved or deleted.  It is only tangentially about the Falcons.  As well, I hope I do not get banned for making this plea.  So, here goes.

I see a lot of agendas on TATF.  The latest is about Arthur Smith's press conference.  AS hinted that a QB change is under consideration.  He also stated that we lost this last game in part because the defense could not get the Falcons offense more time on the field.  A poster commented that AS is a coward for not addressing the QB situation.  I don't get it.  Did he need to say he was considering benching Marcus Mariota to make fans happy?  That is effectively what he hinted was under consideration.  And, the comment about the defense is accurate.

Another poster said AS was stupid for not pulling Mariota in game one of this season and putting Ridder in.  Stupid?  Ridder had some bad habits that needed correcting.  And, because he is very talented and capable, I think it was wise to protect him for a while as he learns and makes corrections.  After all, the 2022 Falcons were never going to win a SB.  And, I think Ridder could be the QB of the future.  Time will tell.  The fact that AS is now hinting the QB position is under consideration makes me believe that the issues Ridder showed in preseason have been corrected.  As well, the OL, with all their limitations and weaknesses, have demonstrated they can give the QB adequate protection.  That does not mean they are a good OL, but are unlikely to get a QB seriously injured.

So why would anyone on TAFT have an agenda?  We have no influence on this coaching staff.  They do not care what we think or demand.  Calling them insulting names will not persuade them to do what we want.  AS is going to do what is good for this team in the long term.  He is not interested in what fans want right now.  He is continuing to work his plan.  I believe Ridder will take the field soon and it has nothing to do with what anyone on this site has to say. 

I would like to talk about the Falcons as a fan.  We all have perceptions, opinions, and knowledge.  We should share those.  I know I have learned much on TATF from posters who are willing to share their knowledge and answer my dumb questions.  Rampaging this message board with agendas, demands, insults, and threats does nothing but discourage other posters from attempting to have the right kind of discourse.  Agendas will do nothing to the Falcons.  It will only impact fans on TAFT in a negative way.  I know many times I wanted to express an opinion, but because the thread turned agenda driven, I just left it alone.  I don't think I am the only poster on here who has experienced this.  Please, stop projecting agendas and making demands.  We are not in control of the Falcons.

This is just my opinion.  I am not a moderator, an administrator, and have no association with the Falcons except as a MB member and loyal fan.  Please feel free to tar and feather me.

While I agree with your sentiment, it's a hopeless one. This is the internet. There will always be agendas and people screaming at the top of their lungs (keyboards). 

People also just need a place to vent (though in a civil manner)

Brother, we all arrived where we are in life differently.  None of us are alike in most ways.  Some see this team as a dumpster fire on all levels.  I see the team as making strides and getting better incrementally.  There is a lot of good here.  Then we have fans that hate the team because it's not full of SEC players, i.e. all of the players should be.  To each his or her own.

Keep in mind that we don't have all the information. Guys banged on the table over Fields, thighs, keeping Ryan, Willis, Vick, Flacco, that Pitts was better than Chase, etc, etc.

It would be no fun if we all agreed all the time. The only thing we all agree on is Bedwetter sucks

As HD83 put it - fans don't realize how bad this roster is, especially last years. The fact that Smith squeezed 7 wins out of that roster last year was a feat of its own. Outside of the Bengals game, they've been in every single game to the final minutes. Again, with one of the worst rosters in the NFL.

I agree with you, some of us have NFL football vision and others have Madden football vision and the two don't mix mix well.

Anybody wanting to fire coaches after this season had unrealistic expectations going in. I tried all off season to get people to try being realistic about this year, but it's the same rah rah bs every offseason and then the same overreacting when the unrealistic expectations arent met.

lol this is why we’re 5-8 instead of 9-4 or better. The loss had nothing to do with defense not getting off the field but I’d expect that from an O line coach calling offense. 
 

Edit for posterity, today is December 5, 2022. This is the 13th week of the 39th losing season and 5th consecutive losing season for the Falcons. So put that in your agenda.

I have agendas.  But, using TATF to influence the Falcons coaching staff is not one of them.  You significantly broadened the scope of this discussion to get that in.  And, I am not a liar.

But add that the thing that brings us together to waste time is our love for the team regardless. Go Falcons.  Nobody would be here if they weren’t a devoted fan.
