Home Dogs to the Steelers

Looks like Vegas hasn't been impressed with our recent stretch of games. We're currently dogs at home to a 4-7 team with a rookie QB (Steelers are 1 point favorites).

Steelers have won the last 3 and 8 of the last 10 and 14-2-1 all time vs Atlanta.

I like to check nflpickwatch and it is early in the week, but 68% of pickers currently have us winning.

I know we are "in the thick" of a divisional chase, but after a solid start to the season, we have been a pretty bad football team since the SF game. Our ppg offensively over the last 6 games has dropped 3.5 points since the first 6. Hopefully we can figure something out to turn this around.

I also think that if we can't get this one, the mock drafts (and start Ridder threads - which admittedly already are) are about to get hot and heavy up in here (unless Tampa blows another game, that is).

Win-Win no matter what happens.

We Win - Cool. Keep pace in the NFC south and our playoff hopes
We Lose - Cool. We likely still keep pace in the NFC South and our top 10 draft pick hopes.

Falcon luck would be to have a bad enough record for a top 10 draft pick, but end up winning the division and picking with the real playoff teams.

This has been the story of Falcons since its inception. Are you saying nothing has changed? Every time I see a coach and GM change, I always assume our luck changed and we win the SB. Pipe dream I guess.

Walterfootball says no contest. Somebody needs to tell Arthur he needn't bother.

It should not be a surprise that I'm betting Pittsburgh heavily again. The Steelers should be favored because they're the better team. They have an elite pass rush and aerial defense now that Watt is back on the field. Their quarterback is getting better all the time. And Pittsburgh has endured the toughest schedule in the NFL thus far. Just look at whom they battled prior to the Saints game: Bengals, Patriots, Browns, Jets, Bills, Buccaneers, Dolphins, and Eagles. That is ridiculous, and Atlanta is worse than all of those teams.

Week 13 NFL Pick: Steelers 27, Falcons 17

I risked the virus so you don't have to.

Yeah, they sure "played" the Bills Walter (38-3, cough, cough).

We've lost, what, 1 game by more than a score? And the Steelers have won 1 game by more than a score? It's like people don't pay any attention. They may win, but the chance they win by 2 scores is pretty low.

Can't blame anyone for not picking the Falcons.  We seem bent on going with a QB that we can't count on to come up with a play when we need it.  Most of the time he can't play clean so others can possibly win the game.

I see the Falcons as a 5/6 win team.  That means I'm thinking at best we win 1 more game and going 1-4 the rest of the way.  I don't have confidence that we can win more right now.  We run the ball well, but we decide not to lean on it when we should.  We don't do a good enough job with our turnover differential.  Defensively, we are bad.

Just because they are my home team, I'm not taking it easy and viewing them through rose colored glasses.  We snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at times.

Not exactly a shock to see Pittsburg is favored at MBS. IIRC the Falcons have a losing record at home since the MBS has been home. It's a great place to eat a $2 hotdog, just remember to avoid gazing out on to the sorry spectacle happening on the field at all costs. lol.

I had assumed Pittsburg had QB problems and actually was a bad football team this year. Turns out they have a good young QB and their problems have been the tough schedule they've faced. Playing the fast-fading Falcons will be almost like getting gifted a W while enjoying an extra bye week.

Mariota will have a very shaky day against their D. At least one pick, maybe two. Our D won't be able to stop their young QB. Walter's 10-point spread might be conservative rather than an overreaction to the two team's current opposite-trending trajectories.

Whatever Pickett is able to produce for the Steelers, it's hard to see the Mariota-led Falcons scoring more than 17 points. Against the Steelers, a team that handles us with ease year in and year out, we probably will end up more in the 13-point range offensively again this week.

Thanks to the decision to stick with Mariota, this year has turned into yet another embrace-the-suck shlt show. But we don't need no stinking playoff berth and get blown out in Game One anyway. May as well start focusing on da fucha! Look out top 7 2023 draft pick, the Falcons are coming for you, baby!

Yeah, at the same point. Although I don't  think they can get to the top 10.

We have the worst SOS so win the tiebreakers over everyone. Theirs a bazillion teams at 4 wins. Won't be hard to move up a few if spots if we keep losing in Falcon fashion.

10 4 win teams
3   3 win teams
And then the lowly Texans who have #1 on lock

For real, seeing how we've played over the past 6 games, I can't say I would be shocked if we ended the season 5-12...

The days of wishing for a higher draft pick are over for me. Not a philosophical change, it’s just that we have a real staff/FO that I believe in for once. Don’t feel so reliant on getting some transcendent player to save us and buffer us from an average-to-below-average staff. I’d rather get some wins, establish some culture and give our players confidence, and have a better shot at luring FA’s this upcoming offseason. I think our QB is on the roster, just need Terry to get as much bang for the buck this upcoming FA as he did last offseason - and obviously he’s got a lot more bucks this time around

Yeah, hadn't considered how much the WASH loss set them back. Or set them up for a top 10 pick.

I just looked at https://www.tankathon.com/nfl and the schedule. Falcons could have a top 10 pick after Monday.

They're at 15 right now. If they lose Pitt moves ahead of them [14], winner of Jax Vs Det moves ahead of them [13], GB probably beats Chi [12], Clev probably beats Hous [11], If NO beats TAM on Monday [10], night, Falcons have the tenth pick.
