This loss is not on Mariota.

We should have been running the ball in that situation at the 4 yard line not passing. Mariota is not getting paid to be Tom Brady with the game on the line. He's a game manager QB.

Plus our pass blocking stinks but our run blocking is very good so it's a much higher percentage to run it 4 straight times. If you want Mariota to score the game winning touchdown let him use his legs. Draw up a run play for him.

Also we needed to bleed clock to keep Washington from not having enough time to get a game winning FG.

I blame Arthur Smith. He said he wants to win games not play fantasy football. Well it's like he was trying to play fantasy football with Mariota instead of doing the 4 straight high percentage runs to beast mode Patterson.

I was at the game, Mariota is a big part on why we lost. There were players open downfield. He just wouldn’t pull the trigger. Also AS playcalling wasn’t that great this week and im not just talking about the last drive before the pick.

I felt like we should have ran the ball more and pass less at times. Especially with a wet ball.

That's part of the issue... You should be able to feel comfortable throwing the ball with your QB from anywhere on the field. Mariota was a net negative today. For the plays he did make that helped the team, he made more that hurt the team. Take out the last play, tips happen. Yeah we should have run, but I'm not even worried about that play. I'm worried about missing open wrs. Drake London running 20 yards downfield wide open having to make an insane catch to get the ball... OZ having to stop on the sideline. Mariota is leaving yards/points on the field game in and game out and teams have 0 respect for our passing game. It's amazing we can run as well as we can under those circumstances.

It's Smith. Everyone and their grandmother can see that the Falcons offense is set up to prevent Mariota from having to win with his arm, and yet you continue on with the guy. Even worse when the game is on the line THEN you put it on Mariota's arm when the situation line up perfectly to NOT put the game on him. Smith is a dunce and a prideful one at that.

So, if we had run it 4 straight times without getting into end zone, then im assuming it would be AS fought for being so predictable...

Problem with that theory is Washington had done ZERO all day to slow down our running game. You at least test them three times with the time outs we had.

This is elementary when it comes to coaching and managing the clock.

I agree but the dude was throwing in his accuracy range (0-5yds) so AS was allowed to run that play.. plus CP was open

You gotta remember the Falcons pass protection isn't very good which is why the ball got tipped. That's probably why they don't want to play Ridder cause he will get sacked a lot if he throws a lot.

Then they would say he is too prideful and egotistical and stubborn…oh wait, they already say that.  In fact they said that when he changed what he normal did.  Turns out if we don’t win it’s because Smith had an ego and is stubborn, regardless if he continues to do what he always does or does something different to change it up.  Weird.  It’s almost like someone just saw someone else post that once, liked how it sounded and then just use that same verbiage whenever it doesn’t go well, even if the phrase isn’t logical or applicable whatsoever!
