TheRidder
What do y’all think? Any chance Mariota completely sucks and Coach Smith actually pulls him and gives Ridder a shot?
Popular Post Jesus
Ridder me this.... Mariota is 29 years old. He's been playing QB since pee-wee so maybe 20+ years. He was a top recruit for college. Then he was so good he won the most prestigious award in all of college sports. To top it off he was then drafted #2 over all. He is so good at playing QB through out his life that he is one of .00000000001% of the world's population to make it to the NFL and start. He has lasted 8 years in the NFL, defying all the odds and playing twice as long as the average NFL athlete. Millions have been spent to develop him and he has made tens of millions more to play a child's game. Yet despite all that, he still can't throw a basic crossing pattern to his wide open tight end. kirbyr, fuego, bossFALCON™ and 29 others 1 2
Lethal
Unless we somehow mathematically fall out of playoff contention during the game, which we won't, the answer is frustratingly and continually "no". conn
Possible, Marriotta had a couple of dropped picks in Carolina. If the Bears DB’s can hold on to the ball maybe we see Ridder. FalconJim and PokerSteve
MilleniumFalcon
It would be poetic justice if Mariota gets injured and Ridder is put into the game and he looks like a superstar. I can only imagine AS’s reaction to the media after the game. Dirtier Bird, TheRisen999, FalconAge and 4 others 1
Killing Floor
No. Not unless Mariota is injured or ejected. And I won’t hope for an injury to anyone. Won’t see Ridder until September for preseason. TheRisen999 and ShoNuff

Seems like they would want him to have some semblance of what it's like to play in an actual NFL game --- maybe, not...
pzummo
After AS doubled down on not starting Ridder, I'm guessing there's a better chance we'd see Felipe come in at QB. papachaz and me4falcons 1

People forget that these are actual people when they want one to get injured and perhaps suffer lasting effects just to win a ballgame. Dirtier Bird
I've seen Mariota throw perfect passes on a dead run that only a handful of quarterbacks, past or present could throw. I've seen him run 12 yards for a first down with the speed and agility of a gazelle. He shows complete disregard for his body when he runs to help the Falcons win. He's a great guy and I'll stand behind him as long as AS does. He is my quarterback. I have seen him step out of bounds and lose yardage on 3rd and 4th down more times in this single year then Matt Ryan did in his entire career here. I saw Carolina DB's drop no less than 3 balls that they catch 98/100 times. I have seen him miss the receiver that has the largest catch radius in the history of the game, by 5 yards on a 10 yard cross multiple times thus far through 10 games. Not my QB. I can go on.... papachaz
falcon22
If Mariota gets hurt and Ridder comes in, then we will have AS spin it as it is a testament in how the coaching staff prepared him through out the season for this moment. Lornoth
There's 0 chance that Mariota gets benched mid-game, imo. *Maybe* if we're down by 50 and put our 2nd team in across the board.
