PokerSteve
Some in TATF might not care for the Atlanta Falcons Audible podcast featuring Derek Rackley, D.J.Shockley and Dave Archer, but I find their discussions entertaining as well as helping me keep an upbeat, positive attitude no matter how the Falcons are trending on any given Sunday. In this podcast they took a hard look at the Panthers loss and where we presently stand with Marcus Mariota remaining the starter. They then talk about the challenges that await with the Eagles coming to town Sunday. There was no attempt to excuse the poor play vs the Panthers, but they did put it into context and perspective. This was not the kind of play and the type of game we're going to see every week just because this was a stinker, they said. We can look forward to the Bears without an excessive amount of fear and dread. The Bears aren't exactly world-beaters at 3-7. They run the ball much like we do, and have a crappy defense like us, so this game is very winnable for the Falcons, according to the group's assessment. Fields has been running wild the last couple of games, with 60-plus yard TD runs in each and over 100 total rushing yards. He leads the Bears in rushing. The Falcons MUST stop him from doing the same thing this week, obviously. After listening, I felt a lot better about Mariota. He had a bad game, but it would probably not have been nearly as bad had the OL not completely fell apart run blocking and pass protection. Mariota obviously tried way too hard to make something happen. As they point out, a couple of weeks ago Mariota was Offensive Player of the Week. He has made plenty of positive plays. It's not reasonable to expect Ridder could waltz in and take over and run the offense and perform flawlessly behind this same sketchy OL, as much as many of us would like to imagine. At any rate, it's about a half-hour of positive, entertaining Falcons talk among three guys who have been around the NFL and know the team as well as any of us. Easy schedule + an insane stretch of not turning the ball over (3 turnovers in the first 8 games is as much good fortune as good play). Not saying they wouldn't destroy us much like last year, but they have the feel of "one and done" if I've ever seen it. PokerSteve

But if they play Dallas in the playoffs the game might last 4 days without ever deciding a winner. PokerSteve and SwampyMux12
