I'm really optimistic for next year with the cap space freed up but if we have 3 consecutive losing seasons in a row, you guys think AS will be on the hot seat? I personally don't think so given it's rebuilding years but I bet the media will start to rumble.

I don't think he will be on the hot seat but I think if Mariota starts against the Bears next week, I personally will have less faith in AS than I had previously. For what that's worth which isn't much

AS will be fired if we do not have a winner by the end of next season (2023). And he should.

As long as AS maintains his relationship with Blank he will not be in the hot seat for several years. Results are not scrutinized top down at this time. I’d rather have Jeff Saturday. At least he won’t blow smoke.

He is on the hot seat at the end of this year if he doesn’t show promise for next year.

Fired next year if the Falcons have a losing record. Ill bet a lot of money on that.

I guess we’ll find out.

Mariota isn’t on the hot seat. And I don’t think Smith is either. And I know Terry isn’t.

AS will be given consideration for this season and last, but forgiveness and understanding will not come so easily if we have a losing record next season. The sub-par records of these two seasons are directly attributable to the previous regime's player choices and cap abuse.

Next season as you said they will have the cap space to go out and get FA's to fit their schemes and they'll have almost two dozen draft picks selected with their FO and scouting department on the roster. That's plenty enough preparation to have a winning record in your third year ~ if you chose your players and spent your money wisely.

One caveat to that is the QB position. If you haven't found a franchise QB by that third year, literally nothing else you've done with the rest of your roster is going to get you over the top in terms of getting to and winning a Super Bowl.

Hopefully Ridder is our next 14-season QB and will establish himself as one of the best in the NFL. If he struggles, or if we end up bringing in someone else who gets designated as the starter and he's not able to produce playoff level football, then AS's tenure becomes far more tenuous, pardon the pun. At the end of next season if we have a losing record and still looking for a QB, AS is in big trouble.

During contract discussions. AS got a guarantee from Blank to give him time due to the salary cap issues.

I thought he got a 3 year deal.

Always been a debate over the length of his contract, but I always swore it was 3 years. Myself and others have looked to no avail though.

Almost every team regime change has issues, why to these guys get the benefit of the doubt? They are not good enough to have warranted that contract clause.

I thought it was three years as well.

yes, all teams have issues, but ours was the most dead cap space in history.

That dead cap space in one year is a byproduct of not only the previous regime terrible decisions, but there are some very questionable calls with this one as well.

he hasn't even started the job and you already just assume what he would do...

Given the state of the nfc south, this team has to win next season or he’s gone.

I cannot agree with this.  We haven’t seen what TF can do with actual money to spend.  We have, however, seen him navigate us out of cap heck, and get some solid picks for aging vets.

Yeah; I agree. TF has done good work with a terrible situation, but I'm 50/50 with coach at this point...maybe a little hard on coach. He's had to deal with one of the two or three worst roster talent situations in the league during his tenure. Coach... just show me that you understand that Mariota sucks and at least make an attempt to develop Ridder...I really want to believe

At least try to get the ball to our top 10 pick recievers....

AS may do a hostile takeover of the Falcons along with dad and kick AB to curb. They have more money than AB. It would be the first time in NFL history that there was Head Coach/Owner. 🤣

I hope he makes it but if he goes TF needs to go with him.

But, TF is following TD's drafting strategy playbook he left behind on how to build a Super Bowl Team. Step #1: draft a WR with the first pick of the draft for 2, maybe 3 years in a row and TF has done that. He needs time to build the team from the outside in.
