If they had stuck to shorter passing plays on the last drive , then they would have won this game. The longer a passing play gives more time for the opposing D# to get to the plays, And they did just that. I knew when they went with the deep passes ,, we would loss.  Lost because they didn't use good old common sense !  Shorter plays are much more higher percentage plays.. That is why we lost the game on the last drive.  They had plenty of time.. This is a really bad loss because of the O# passing plays. We should have gotten the win... Sad facts.

The reason we didn't win this game is because Arthur Smith outsmarted himself. Chargers have a terrible run defense and he wants to prove he can also pass against it.

You can have all the best players in the league, but if your OC don't choose the higher percentage Passing plays on the last drime,, you can forget it.  This one is very easy to see why we lost a game we should have won.

You can’t be serious. Mariota was 12/23 for 129 yards for the entire game. We rushed for over 200. The defense held it’s own. Sad fact, we win by 20+ with mediocre QB play.

You guys REALLY need to listen to the radio broadcast.

Arch called this out. In the 2nd the Chargers went with a heavy man front and we’re focused on stopping the run.

Arch was saying you’ve got to connect behind that or it will never stop.

This offense is completely one dimensional with Mariota at Qb.

AS realizes that and is trying to change things before they get crushed.

I’m sorry man.  I’ve tried to hold back on responding to your consistently terrible takes, but this I just can’t.  The only QB that has started each game for their team this year that has a lower completion % in passes less than 10 yards than Mariota is Justin Fields.  Mariota is awful in the short passing game, why is that your recommendation?   Also, neither pass play was Mariota under pressure, he just missed both passes badly.  We were running all over them, in what world do you think passing the ball is a good idea?  We needed to bleed the clock.  They are THE worst run defense in the league.  We had success all game.  Yet you think we should have passed?  Why?

For once, Koo missed a field goal, then defense does get a fumble and the idiot throws the ball on the ground for another fumble instead of wrapping it up.  If he'd not done that, then Koo might have another shot at a game winning FG.  But the lack of pass defense in the fourth quarter (as always) pretty much sealed our fate.  The real reason we can't win these games, our secondary just sucks without AJT and our pass rush is still a mush rush as Herbert had the time to fix himself a four course meal before passing the ball on many plays.  Fix the defense and maybe, just maybe, the offense can provide enough points to win close games.

I’m fine with backing them off some, as they were stacking the box, Mariota just had to hit one of those two.  If he hits Pitts everyone loves Smith and Mariota.

True, but I think we are at our best when we run it and throw it when we need to, or after we’ve established the run on a drive. That sequence was antithetical to everything we’d done successfully all game.

We only got three yards on the first down run so Smirh probably figured 2nd and 7 was time to take a shot.  Then it was 3rd and 7 and you don’t have a choice.
