I haven't seen much of the Celtics so far this year, and I know Robert Williams is out so their defense isn't whole right now, but if they're switching everything like they did last year, this will be a game where we get to see if the Hawks have solutions that they lacked vs. the Heat in the playoffs.

So far, I think the Raptors are the only team we've faced that switches a ton, and while we shot okay, we were annihilated in transition, with a -12 turnover differential being a large factor in the beatdown.

The things about Toronto is that they ALL are pretty much the same size so when they switch, it’s like we are getting a matchup advantage.

I don’t think the switching itself was the issue as much as the same size.

But no matter, we must be stronger with the ball regardless.

Not happy about this, Hawks tend ro not bring their Agame when teams are missing top players.

I worry about this too sometimes, although it seems like a bigger issue when the other team is down their best or second best player (a la Ball vs. the Hornets). Having both of the Jays out there should provide plenty of fuel.

Yeah, at least their 2 main stars are still playing.

It's somewhat frustrating, but it does feel like we need the opposing team's star power to keep us energized. The notable exception is Dejounte, who plays every game like he's fighting for a roster spot.

On one hand, this won't really be an issue in the playoffs. On the other hand, it can absolutely bite you when it comes to seeding, much as it did last year.

Yep, I hope Murray becomes that spark to keep the team focused whenever Trae is off.

I think both he and Trae can coexist as leaders.

Couldn't agree more. Trae is still our best player and the guy we need to play at an elite level if we're going to make a serious run, but Murray is a stabilizing force who is capable of leading a team and being the best player on the floor for significant stretches.

Pretty interesting breakdown of the Trae-Murray dynamic on the ESPN pregame show. They pointed out that Trae and DJM are 1st and 2nd in the league in pass-to-assist ratio (21% and 17% respectively).

I saw something recently (may have changed over the past couple games) where we were dead last in the league in number of passes per possession... while I do think that's something that needs to improve, it's a little misleading since we have two guys who are so adept at creating high percentage shots for their teammates. Sometimes there's only one pass, but it's after working the defense so well that there's no need for a second pass. And there are plenty of bad teams that pass the ball around a lot, but part of the reason they're passing so much is because no one can generate anything.

Exactly.

Trae and Murray are such great passers that they only need one pass lol
