jlrfalcon
This is essentially a question of where you think the rest of the Falcons season is going to go now that we are nearly halfway through it. Have the Falcons peaked with maybe a loss to the Chargers and loss at the Panthers going to derail their hopes and send them downhill and Ridder take over the starting QB job very soon? Will Mariota be a forgotten figure in Falcons QB history by the time week 17 arrives? Are the Falcons going to continue with some good luck and win the NFC South behind Mariota perhaps with a week 17 win over Brady and the Bucs a deciding game? Will Ridder be lucky to get in just a couple of quarters of play in 2022? The Falcons have several important players on IR that could arrive back soon but new injuries always could pop up. They also have many young players who could show continued improvement yet could also show blunders due to inexperience. They have also had some good luck in games like yesterday's game over the Panthers and in the game over the 49ers where Mariota was POTW against a depleted DL. Still, they also have had bad luck (if you call refereeing that) at the end of the Rams and first Bucs game. They have only been really blown out in one game (Bengals) and have beat current playoff teams in the Seahawks and 49ers. Simply, do you think the Falcons are going to the playoffs behind Mariota in 2022 or that Ridder is soon to take over a team that has had maybe a little luck so far in 2022? Is there also a chance that Ridder assumes the starting QB role and the Falcons still manage to somehow make the playoffs?
Lornoth
I think there's almost 0 chance Ridder starts for the Falcons this season. NOVAFalconFan, Komic, Lethal and 3 others

Unless Mariota gets injured or something, he will be our QB throughout this season. Right now I don't see no reason to pull him.

PokerSteve
So far it's 100 percent vote that Mariota takes us to the playoffs. I just hope he can perform with this much extra pressure on him for the rest of the season. 😂 papachaz
dirtybirds233
Until he is physically unable to play, the Falcons are eliminated from the playoffs, or the Falcons seed is frozen, Mariota will be the starting QB. sanfranfalcon, sharky and Mid-Nite-Toker
celtiksage
Hmmm I'm gonna say both happen. Mariota misses a game or two, and Ridder starts. Then Mariota comes back and takes us to the playoffs. 😆😁
Dark Bird Rising
Ridder will compete with a 2023 QB draftee for the starting job, unless Mariota take us to the NFC Championship.

Kaptain Krazy
I'm still skeptical the Falcons make the playoffs, so even if I think Ridder doesn't start until 2023, I went with that option. Falconfan4years

We will not have a 23' qb draftee. Y'all really need to get that outta your minds. We will see defense, defense, defense and maybe ol in the next draft. Spts1
"No one expected Mariota to lead the Falcons to the playoffs but here we are. Herr Doktor
I wish there was a third option. Mariota getting hurt forcing the Falcons to play Ridder. Otherwise, Ridder does not see the field this year. So, given the two choices, if Bridge doesn't fall completely apart, we back ourselves potentially into a playoff spot. papachaz
Ohio Dirty Bird
Falcons are currently in first place in the NFC South, Do you want them to bench the starter?
SwampyMux12
I'm itching to see what Ridder can do. I like Mariota - seems like an awesome teammate/leader all that stuff, but it's pretty clear to me that he is not a long term option at QB. Despite all the good things he did yesterday, he made 2 really bad throws that got picked, the last one had no business not costing us the game and the first one he had Kyle Pitts wide open for a basically free 20-30 yards. That being said, as long as we are in the hunt, I don't think we should upset the apple cart. Mariota has played okay, kinda like a rollercoaster, great at times, poor at others. But he's earned the right to keep this thing rolling to see if we can get ourselves in the playoffs. I'm also skeptical (being a long-time Falcons fan will do that to you) that we are not going to completely fall apart. I feel like we are always standing on the precipice and all it will take is a stiff wind to blow us in. At this point, we have the inside track to the division, but would anyone REALLY be that surprised if we pulled something like 2-7, 3-6 down the stretch? Maybe...if the division is sooooo bad, and the Falcons have it clinched by week 17. Perhaps Ridder gets a start in week 18. The only other way I see it is if Mariota gets hurt

We keep winning games (how, I don't know), but there's not much backing being done into anything. Win games, reap rewards.
