At this point its clear that we need still draft a top QB in 1st Rd of next years draft.

Outside of the one 75 yard long pass today and the nice performance last week--Mariota has generally been awful in the passing game & exposes our biggest weakness that under Mariota we are just unable to generate any passing attack/threat that teams have to account for so if we fall behind by multiple TD's to a team that can pass we're screwed as we can't just run at that point. Mariota is decent backup QB that is capable of having some flashes here and there but he is not a franchise QB to build around because he is incapable of creating a consistent accurate passing attack threat (even if he is not under pressure)

Mariota has been better than most expected (except for today) as far as running the offense but dont you think we need to play Ridder at some point this yr to help determine if we need to plan on drafting a top QB in 1st rd in next draft or can Ridder be the guy.  I dont really believe Ridder is true franchise QB to build around either for next 10 years compared to some QB's who we could possibly draft in 1st round next year with a decent pick # in 1st round or moving up in 1st rd but we should at least get Ridder some playing time in real games this year to see what he actually can do

They definitely knew coming in they didn’t have there guy.

Mariota isn’t as bad as he is being portrayed it’s just he’s probably a really good backup is all.

For me this is just where the teams at right now.I mean the only reason he’s our starting QB is because we just missed getting DeShaun Watson they were pretty much all in to a point to get him.

Why is he not as bad? I keep seeing this but no one is explaining it. Why is Mariota not as bad as he seems?

I've completely changed my tune on this. Not so much because of ridder because who knows who he becomes but because the team as a whole is more important than one QB.

Even a QB like Allen or Mahomes will not overcome really crappy teams and depth. If we have other pieces and depth all we need is a competent QB. Build up the team first.

No, Cooper Rush is a really good backup.

Mariota should be out of the league. If he can only complete 8 passes in a game, doesn't keep his eyes downfield, and can't read pre snap pressure. He needs to be out of the league.

Hey I mean if Ridder can’t beat out a bum *** QB like Mariota who is so limited he’s basically a wildcat QB, then we should totally get a QB with our first pick. If coach won’t play Ridder cause he’s such a bum he can’t beat out a joke like Mariota, then I totally agree with you OP. And if coach refuses to play Ridder for whatever reason, he should get fired for it too. Take his bum *** buddy pees too

This is what happens when posters know they are wrong but are too prideful to admit it so they’ll just make statements based in nothing resembling reality and then either ignore direct questions completely or just dodge while speaking in cliches and generalities.
