Braves would forfeit their 2nd round pick and $500K of their international pool if they sign a QO player. As far as the SS market, Turner and Bogaerts got the QO, Correa was ineligible for it because he got it from Houston last year. Fan favorite deGrom also got the QO.

Astros GM James Click has declined the Astros 1 year offer and will leave the team. A stunning move for a team to treat a GM that just won the WS this way. Reports are that pretty much everyone around the league was stunned at ownerships treatment of Click, it could hurt their search for a new GM. They reportedly weren't easy to work with and Click had some moves vetoed including a July trade for Wilson Contreras that was agreed upon until ownerships refused it.

This FA period feels much slower than others.

They waiting till Winter meetings or something?

I think it’s a few things. You have the free agents waiting on player of a similar position to sign and then using that for their deal. Also you probably have the teams that want the big free agents, signing them first to see how much money is let to spend elsewhere.

Edwin Diaz will be getting deferred payments from the Mets until 2042

The breakdown:

Deferment of 2023 money: $2.65 million each in 2033 and 2034, and $200,000 in 2035.

Deferment of 2024 money: $2.45 million in 2035, $2.65 million in 2036 and $400,000 in 2037.

Deferment of 2025 money: $2.25 million in 2037, $2.65 million in 2038 and $600,000 in 2039.

Deferment of 2026 money: $2.05 million in 2039, $2.65 million in 2040 and $300,000 in 2041.

Deferment of 2027 money: $2.35 million in 2041 and $2.65 million in 2042.

If the Mets exercise the 2028 option, none of that salary would be deferred.

It's known it would happen -- they even had a goodbye press conference before the season ended -- but the Cubs have officially released Jason Heyward.

An interesting one to watch. We hear LH have increased value post shift era.

Yeah but the LH has to be able to hit.

Don't think Heyward has in 5 years.

But teams sometimes overvalue players. I qoykd not be shocked if someone did on Heyward. We know better than most that he has holes all in that swing

But is it worth a league minimum deal to see if something can be fixed.

He can still run and he can still field and would not be a bad clubhouse guy.

He could be a great mentor for Harris.

He also wouldn't have the pressure of being "that guy  with the huge contract"
