The Bally's app does suck.

Hopefully  MLB goes back to Fox and they can go back to FS1

Fox doesn't do regional anymore though. Disney acquired the regional networks as part of their purchase of Fox but didn't want them so they sold them off to Sinclair.

I can imagine the app is horrible. Bally isn't exactly known for its programming. They rely solely on live games to get any audience. They don't even do the little biography shows that Fox did on coaches/players.

They were forced to de-vest from them on anti-trust grounds as a condition of the sale since Disney also owns ESPN.

Well that sucks.

Hopefully a good alternative can be reached.

We have Bally's so that my girlfriend can watch the Suns and it is pretty meh.

When it first started they had the pregame that you had to click out of the pregame to click into the live game and then you have to click into the post game if you wanted to watch that.

It was annoying.

Now you just have to click into the post game.

That's a pain for sure. I'm not sure what the alternative is. Amazon or Apple is probably the best bet for a deal. The league buying it and then allowing streaming under the current MLB package would be pretty sweet but I highly doubt that happens, Sinclair already tried to explore that. It would be fun if TBS came back in but I can't see them doing that considering they already pay a fortune for the playoffs and Tuesday night package.

More info from an article on it..

According to Bloomberg, under a restructuring plan described by unnamed inside sources, debt would be turned into equity, and Diamond's largest creditors — Prudential Financial, Fidelity, Hein Park Capital Management and Mudrick Capital Management — would become owners of the Bally Sports RSNs.

Diamond's $630-million first-lien loan(opens in new tab) is trading at 92 cents on the dollar, Bloomberg reports, while nearly $5 billion in “lower-ranked bonds” will trade at under 10 cents on the dollar.

This signals “a near-total wipeout for subordinated creditors,” the news service said.

Meanwhile, pro teams relying on TV rights revenue from their deals with the 19 Bally Sports RSNs will face severe belt-tightening, since rights deals with them can be terminated amid the restructuring.

For example, MLB’s St. Louis Cardinals have been identified(opens in new tab) as a franchise likely to take one of the hardest blows, since so much of its revenue comes from RSN TV rights.

The Cards would lose millions a year in revenue. They signed a $1B deal in 2015, one which is probably a lock to get significantly lowered in bankruptcy or voided altogether.

Braves and Brian Snitker agreed to a 1 year extension. His current deal was set to expire after 2024. He's now under contract through 2025. Snitker hasn't indicated any desire to retire but he will be 70 after the 2025 season. Cox retired at 69. DOB said Snitker has been asked before but just says as long as he's healthy and happy he'll continue.

Snitker is now the 3rd oldest manager in MLB. Bochy claimed the second spot when he return. Baker is 73 and the oldest. Bochy is 6 months older than Snit.

With 1% of earnings to Braves Foundation? I don't see it anywhere in the press release. 🤔

Mark Bowman said Ben Ingram prefers radio and it's looking like he'll remain there. Bowman said Tom Hart is a "top"  finalist. Hart currently does a lot of different sports for ESPN/SEC Network. He could still honor some of that commitment and work for the Braves. Of course he was at one time the Braves dugout reporter before going to ESPN.

Gotta believe Hart would accept it. He told the Athletic one time that being at a large place like ESPN can bury you sometimes. Would be an opportunity to get national exposure while also getting chance to stand out. If you're good at being the voice of baseball it's a great legacy opportunity.

I wonder who takes the job when Snitker steps down. Do they promote from within or does AA have someone in mind?

Washington, Weiss, maybe someone like O'Day.

Thoughts on the invitees:

Major league vets:
OF Kevin Pillar -- a very good chance to be the 4th/5th OF, strong defensive resume, ties to AA in Toronto
OF Magneuris Sierra -- fast and solid defense, could replace Heredia but a long shot
IF Ehire Adrianza -- has a chance to make the team, especially if Arcia beats out Grissom for SS; then Grissom goes to AAA to get steady work
IF Adeny Hechavarria -- break glass in case of emergency, will likely cool his heels in AAA until there's an infield injury
IF Yolmer Sanchez -- same as Hech, only more so
C Joe Hudson -- fourth in line for catching which... well, based on recent history means he'll probably be up at some point
RHP Jesse Chavez -- bullpen seems crowded, but Chavez usually finds a way in; coach's favorite
LHP Brian Moran -- under "journeyman left-hander" in the dictionary, there's a picture of this guy
RHP Yacksel Rios -- 29 year old who has always had good stuff and mediocre control; feels like someone they think they can unlock

Minor league vets:
OF Forrest Wall -- former 1st rounder but hasn't been able to get over the hump
IF Joe Dunand -- longtime Miami prospect, picked up midseason 2021; plays a decent shortstop, always seems on the threshold of being better
C/1B Ryan Casteel -- feel-good story, 31YO minor leaguer in his first big league camp; not much of a catcher but the power is real, he's hit 46 HR in Mississippi and Gwinnett since 2019 in part-time duty
RH Roel Ramierez -- known as a strike-thrower, Ramierez has been starting to get more strikeouts the last couple of years, could be a late-bloomer
LH Danny Young -- serviceable

Prospects:
OF Justin Dean -- speed/defense guy but hasn't hit at upper levels, 5th outfielder upside; coachable and likeable
OF Cody Milligan -- high-motor guy, had a big year in 2022 after up-ending his approach to concentrate on getting on base and using his speed; can also play second base
SS Cal Conley -- came on strong second half last year after being drafted in 2021, had a good showing in the AFL; potential reserve infielder
SS Luke Waddell -- good contact skills but limited tools, was hurt much of 2022; former Georgia Tech stand-out, another potential bench infielder
C Drake Baldwin -- top 2022 draft position player, solid defense and good hit tool
C Tyler Tolve -- solid defensive skillset despite large size, good power but strikeout prone; former Kennesaw State
RH Blake Burkhalter -- 2nd round pick in 2022, was Auburn's closer, could move quickly through org à la AJ Minter
LH Dylan Dodd -- 3rd round pick in 2021, moved quickly last season, throws strikes and hunts for outs despite just OK stuff
RH Alan Rangel -- was on 40-man roster last year but was dropped and re-signed this offseason; long-time farmhand, his stuff has gotten better last couple years, could be bullpen factor
LH Jared Shuster -- 1st round pick in 2020, good command, great change-up, will likely make ML debut at some point in 2022
RH Victor Vodnik -- 12th rounder in 2018, had good season in Gwinnett bullpen but has been hampered by injuries, high-leverage bullpen ceiling
RH Brooks Wilson -- another 2018 pick, looked ready to compete for bullpen role last spring but blew out his elbow, was dropped from 40-man roster but re-signed

Snit did a little interview. He was asked about how long he'll continue with his new contract taking him to 70.

“Right now I just want to survive today, let alone this year,” he said. “I’m going to take every day separate and enjoy it and go to spring training. It’s going to be fun to get back with the guys and get in your routine again.”

He said he was with Bobby Cox visiting him at the time AA called to talk about extending his deal. Snit said Cox is doing fine but has good and bad days. He's alert but struggles to talk since the stroke. Snitker said Cox can communicate with smile, nods and occasionally a word.
