Unknøwn
DOB did point out something. This will be the first season since 1976 that doesn't feature a Caray in the Braves booth. Truly the end of era.

He had no personality. Maybe he's better with more experience now but at the time he was just boring. Gant definitely does not fit the personality of Chip. But Gant does have that calm, analytical Pete Van Wieren vibe about him.

K26dp
BOWMAN: Ben Ingram and Tom Hart among hose who could replace Chip Caray. Former Marlins broadcaster Rich Waltz has ties to some Bally Sports South execs. But Bally’s financial woes could influence the decision. Diamond Sports, the Sinclair offshoot that runs the Bally RSNs, is about $4 billion in debt and is in danger of declaring bankruptcy. They won't get anyone who will need to either be bought out of an existing contract or will demand a high salary. Creditors have recently forced Sinclair out of having any further input into the day-to-day operations of the regional sports networks. falconsd56

Sinclair, Bally's parent, tried to sell it to MLB, NHL and NBA but it didnt get anywhere. The rumor now was they might target a deal with Apple or Amazon, both have a desire to increase their sports presence. Sinclair has just totally dropped the ball since taking control a few years ago, they had no idea what they were doing. Dropping all streaming services for their own streaming was just never going to work
Unknøwn
I think Ben Ingram will be the guy. Easy move to make, already with the Braves. Hart is under contract with ESPN and I doubt Bally would be able to compete financially plus a buyout.

Unknøwn
Yeah broadcasters get to ride with the team and have great access but they're not on the Braves payroll.

Unknøwn
I would love it if we could get Boog. He would be #2 pick behind Ingram. Like DOB said though that's a tough one. He just got a big deal from the Cubs and gets a lot of nights free since the Cubs play so many day games.

ATLBham
Although a little annoying that he didn't get out of the home base quicker (as we know what happened when he thought his ball was a goner and eventually got benched by Snitker), I love his swagger. It's infectious.

They've watched all his ABs down there and he looks happy, he's moving normal again, playing fast. AA and Snit both alluded to Acuña being mentally drained and just not happy with his body last year going from rehab to playing and then all the nagging stuff from sitting around for months. Snit said they're fully expect a normal, 100% Acuna this year. ATL Fan in the DMV

Can't wait to see how even better we can be this season, especially with division games being reduced.

Unknøwn
Acuna announced he has retired from the Venezuelan winter league effectively immediately. His family had beer thrown at them and were harassed after the HR. So Acuna isn't spending anymore energy on that league.
Unknøwn
Reports today that Sinclair will take Bally into bankruptcy on $8.6 Billion in debt. The report says they have $585M in the bank and just this year they owe $2 billion to various pro teams for broadcasting rights. The Bally streaming service has failed to draw in anyone and all providers have been dropping Bally because of Sinclair'a expensive demands. One report suggested Sinclair will look to get out of broadcast deals with some teams to cut some expenses. Would be interesting to see where the Braves might land if they were one to be cut off. The Bally's app does suck. Hopefully MLB goes back to Fox and they can go back to FS1
