I think Swanson, Duvall and Jackson will be kept on the list provided above. No further input past that as I don’t know much about the crop of free agents. Unpopular opinion, but I think I’m out on deGrom. Aging pitchers with injury issues don’t seem like wise investments. Look no further than his teammate, Max Scherzer.

Duvall I could see. Heredia maybe you nontender or bring him back for AAA emergency depth. Duvall and Rosario are your backup OFs. This free agent class is extremely loaded though.

Obviously Judge is the big fish there....he is the biggest fish of the FA pond..

But when I look at that list , I don't see any major significant upgrades over what Duval and/or Rosario gives you when they are both healthy and right.

I meant overall. Not necessarily OF.

I wouldn’t mind adding Justin Verlander at the right price, but the money we would give to JV was already given to Charlie Morton.

Yeah, we nearly signed Verlander a couple of years ago. Houston just outbid us so we signed Morton for a few million less. He was picking between us and Houston though.

Verlander is old and just had major surgery in 2021. Thought you didn’t like that combo

Don’t think he’d cost as much money and I haven’t seen as much of a “decline” with him as I have with deGrom. Also, would you say Verlander is more injury prone than deGrom over the last several seasons?

As of right now the Braves payroll next year not including arbitration is $192 million. So they have $40 million before hitting the CBT.

Looks like enough to keep Dansby and some of the arbitration guys, but not much to make a splash unless we exceed that $40 million.

As much as I would like Jansen back. The bullpen will be just fine without him and that money could be used elsewhere.

Yeah, I think Luke Jackson and Kirby Yates can fill the setup role while Iglesias moves to the closer spot. There may still be a value signing out there somewhere as well.

I think Jansen was just viewed as a 1 year thing. I doubt he wants to sign another short deal. Iglesias also makes it easier cause your closer is already on the roster.

The question is .....does the organization want to do that?

I am sure that it was part of the conversation when they were working on the deals for the players that were given out.

Who takes his place then? Does Trea Turner play good enough defense for AA? Do you pay more for Carlos Correa? I don’t know what the solution is if it isn’t Dansby.

More injury prone? No. I’ve never had an issue signing a player in baseball long as medicals check out. Sport like football is different because it’s a violent sport.
