Pitts hurt

KP says bigger, stronger, faster, better catch radius, and almost 3 yards more per catch.
But to your point Pitts is not a significant part of Smith’s offensive vision for the team so you may be right.

I don't see any way whatsoever that last part of your statement is true. It's obvious Smith doesn't trust Mariota so he's leaning on the run and he's correct for doing so

That is def not true. Pitts has been involved in every facet. He’s been getting doubled and bracketed every week. He’s had targets. He’s been used in the run game as a blocker. There’s absolutely nothing that indicates he’s not a significant part of smiths offense other than you haven’t gotten the results you’re looking for in the passing game. And again, that’s because teams have been taking him away or making it harder to get the ball to him.

The first thing I said is I hope he’s OK.
1-2 touches per game?  No excuse. Zero.

That’s not accurate. His targets are as much as londons or anybody else’s. He’s not a rb that gets TOUCHES because he carries the ball. He’s a TE which means he needs opportunities to CATCH the ball. Which are targets. He’s been targeted in each and every game. The results aren’t what you want. So say 1-2 CATCHES. But on those 1-2 catches he was targeted 5 times.

The first game he was targeted 7 times. 1 or 2 catches. Drake was targeted 7 times and had 5 or 6 catches. He’s being involved. Defenses are just making it hard to get the ball to him. Julio used to have games where he had only 2 catches. Well Pitts is getting that same kind of treatment where defenses are saying find somebody else to beat us cause it ain’t gonna be Pitts.

Yea the bigger threat London becomes the more Pitts will be able to get better looks. It’s a process, once teams have to pick their poison the game will open up for KP.

@Killing Floor

Kyle Pitts

Saints 2 for 19 on 7 targets(tied with London who was 5 for 74)

Rams 2 for 19 on 3 targets(they showed how the rams took him away all game with bracket coverage) London was 5 for 74 on 7 targets

Seahawks - 5 for 87 on 8 targets(London had 6 targets and was 3 for 54)

Cle - 1 for 25 on 4 targets( London was 2-17 on 7 targets

So your theory just doesn’t add up  he’s been right at the top of targets to wr’s in every game. Another thing is we are a running team  we ain’t tossing the ball round the yard 35-40 times a game like we did with Matt so by default the targets are going to be lower

Exactly.

Also, if KP had a nagging injury it could explain his lack of targets/separation. Not to mention Mariota is a one-read guy and it seems to not be on Pitts side of the field.
