Colorado fired HC Karl Dorrell. Dorrell was an odd hire, he went 35-27 at UCLA and then spent 13 years as an assistant, 12 of which in the NFL, Colorado decided to hire him after Tucker left. Dorrell goes 8-15 including 0-5 this year. The covid year was his best going 4-2. In his two normal seasons he went 4-13. Through 5 games Colorado had 1,300 yards of total offense. The QBs have only thrown for 820 yards with a 51% completion through the 5 games. Colorado defense has also been just as bad. They allowed 41 or more points in every game but one, they allowed 38. Arizona had 673 yards yesterday.

You do have to wonder if this Wisconsin move is to get a jump on a Wisconsin native. Kansas HC Lance Leipold is from Wisconsin and of course most famous for his domination at Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Yeah that makes complete sense.

Matt Rhule is officially free to return to college. He was fired this morning by Carolina. He'll be popular, the programs with openings, like Nebraska, can start the process of talking with him.

Rhule can be really picky though. Carolina must pay him the remaining $40M on his contract unless he accepts another job. Basically he still gets his yearly salary from Carolina until he returns to college.

Georgia Tech has its AD. Theyve hired Alabama deputy AD J Batt as the new AD. Batt was in charge of the revenue flow at Bama and essentially running the business side of things. Hes known as quite the impressive fundraiser. That's an important part of the job of Tech. The HC hiring will be big for Batt but Tech also needs more revenue and mentioned that would be a big focus moving forward at the beginning of the hiring process. We'll now see who Batt likes on the market, could it bring Bill O'Brien to Atlanta?

Scott Satterfield is reportedly losing support at Louisville. He apparently angered some boosters when he flirted with South Carolina during their last search. The AD wants Satterfield to stay but the outside pressure is growing. Satterfield does have the best recruiting class in school history lined up for 2023, that could be his saving grace.

The fact that boosters are spending millions on that class I don't think he is fired.  Those guys have enough money getting Owens and such and wouldn't have done so if they didn't believe in Satterfield.

The loss to BC ruffled some feathers it seems but I don't see it happening this year.

Hugh Freeze gets a new deal. Extension through 2030 at $5M per year. Buyout is increased as well but is reportedly not high enough to keep an SEC program away. Auburn flirted with Freeze before hiring Harsin. There's been some thought he could be on the list this time.

These colleges pay coaches millions TO GO AWAY but holding on to them purse strings as long as they can when it comes to paying the players.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34918727/auburn-fires-football-coach-bryan-harsin-less-2-seasons

Auburn owes Harsin roughly $15 million, per the terms of his contract, with half due within the next 30 days.

Two years ago, the school decided to pay a $21.7 million buyout in order to fire Gus Malzahn, who had gone 68-34 in eight seasons.

Auburn hired their new AD and literally a matter of a couple of hours he fires Harsin.

President fired Harsin, Cohen didn’t.

Auburn needs someone to come stabilize things there for a bit. A bridge coach to get them to the next guy. They won’t do that though. They’ll swing for like Kiffin or Deion  and maybe one says yes, but I’m not sure why they would.

And Freeze. How you gonna try and hire a guy who had a sex scandal when you literally tried to fire the last guy for the same thing? Hypocritical. Plus, other than beating Alabama twice, what did he really do at Ole Miss besides cheat and still find ways to lose games against inferior talent?

If I’m Auburn, you need a guy like Bill Clark (if he’s even interested).
