kiwifalcon
This is why the drafts a crap shot we just aren’t privy to these interviews that’s what sells them. The film of games and highlights are all there. But the one on one stuff leaves you guessing listening to this presser about London sells the pick to me more. dyrtysouth2000 and Herr Doktor
Beast-N-Da-Sheetz
I predict round 2 presser tomorrow night featuring Dean Pees slamming his playbook on the floor and resigning after Terry drafts one more wr with a 5th Rd grade and a TE with an undrafted grade. rudy
Drake did not run the 40 at his pro day. And now the Falcons brass would not reveal his time either. You kinda wonder if he's fast/quick enough to get separation in the NFL. FalconsFan36

jidady
Okay, it doesn't sound like we advanced seriously in trade talks this time. Some teams wanted to move up, but they weren't willing to pay a lot. At #11, Washington got #98 and #120 to move down to #16. On the old Jimmy Johnson chart, the difference between #11 and #16 is 250 points. #98 is worth 108, while #120 is worth 54. So, it was an underpay that way. Using the Rich Hill method (Hi Rings!), it was an overpay of about 20%. Overall, this seems to confirm the rumors that teams were only willing to move up into the high teens. The math is always so much different when the QBs are good. Can't stand slant boy, but what he does do he does very well and I could see London being used similarly while also having a higher ceiling and being a better downfield threat. rudy
Mid-Nite-Toker
I agree the 1st rnd wr had more to do with team fit. Too many good choices to clearly separate. The 1st rnd value was at that position. dyrtysouth2000 and Herr Doktor
jidady
Having watched the video, it's pretty clear that we had London ranked a lot higher than #8. I suspect he was in our top five, if not even higher.

k-train
3 minutes ago, jidady said: Can’t imagine why the guys who drafted Michael Thomas and AJ Brown would like Drake London… Exactly. People need to learn how to stop letting the uninformed media & random dudes on Youtube influence them. Instead, try paying attention to the type of players your coaching staff has had success with. The team's board might very well be extremely dfifferent from what the media says, because teams look for specific traits & specific personalities. That stuff isn't factored in to media rankings. Those are just generic, blanket statement lists which honestly don't mean much at all outside of being a broad baseline. If you don't understand why London would be the highest WR on the Falcons board, you need to take a look at what Smith wants out of the position. He's not looking for Tyreek Hill, he wants a tall, physical, dominant force who can use leverage, length, and strength to win contested catches, break tackles, and be a factor in the run game as a blocker. London makes perfect sense with that in mind. Factor in that WRs have suddenly started getting paid like QBs, so much so that we saw two teams trade away young #1 WRs during the first round because they don't want to have to pay the going rate for what they actually have to offer. Plus, there was a big run on WRs in the first round (so teams can get that 5th year option) immediately following the Falcons pick of London. Clearly, TF and As were reading the tea leaves properly. It was a move that not only addressed BPA at a position of need, but also was incredibly financially savvy. Sure, London still needs to go out there & get it done, but right now it looks like a very smart move. booty-mane, Herr Doktor, dyrtysouth2000 and 6 others 2
1989Fan
They guy had 88 catches in 8 games. It’s obvious he can produce. People are just picking him apart because they didn’t want a WR. I didn’t want a WR either, but as K train said, the WR market went stupid this spring, so I can get behind the pick more. I’d rather draft one at 8 then pay one 25M a season. dyrtysouth2000

Flyin' In DC
We have 4 picks in the next 2 rounds. I would have preferred an edge rusher but I will wait until this guy puts on pads and starts playing before I label it a huge mistake. ket222
So is london just a poor mans michael thomas or can he be as good? Is he the same size and height? Did they have similar college careers? How much should his injuries impact london long term?
