One final note on Freeman's FA. DOB said he talked to people out in LA including Freeman. He said it was all off record so he wouldn't say exactly what happened or who told him. However, he did give the general idea. He basically said Casey Close, the agent, went rogue and wasn't really communicating with Freddie like he should have been. Freddie was said to be unaware of the ultimatum made. Now some of that falls on Freddie cause DOB said he wasn't exactly forcing the issue to get info. Basically, Freddie was totally out of the loop, his agent got greedy and was solely focused on milking every cent out of someone instead of focusing on what his client wanted. DOB said it was 100% clear being around Freddie that he really would rather be in Atlanta. He said Freeman spent more time with the Braves than Dodgers over those 3 days and his heart is still in Atlanta but bad representation and inexperience with FA negotiations landed him in LA. Just a total break down of communication from multiple angles.

The A's have 2 years left on their lease. I'd be shocked if they're in Oakland after that. MLB granted them permission to seek a new city last year. Honestly I think Vegas is probably the place. Nashville is going to be an expansion city.

Miguel Cabrera has a shot at history today. He enters with 2,999 hits. He will become just the 7th player in history with 3,000 hits and 500 HR. He'll be just the 3rd to do it with a .300 career average. Hank Aaron and Willie Mays are the only others to hit .300 with 500 HR and 3,000 hits. Miggy is often an afterthought these days but hes definitely one of the greatest hitters we've ever had.

Julio Teheran is making another Opening Day start. He's starting for the Staten Island FerryHawks tonight. It's the first game in franchise history for the FerryHawks. They're in the independent Atlantic League which is now an MLB partner but not affiliated with any clubs. Julio will try to show he can still help an MLB team

Freddie 1) Still is the one who had to sign or not sign the contract 2) Could have told his agent, "Look, get every dollar you can, but make it so I wind up back with ATL and 3) Could have asked his agent to keep him informed every step of the way if things went sideways.

I have no love lost with Freeman on this one.

If that's true,  it's the Glavine situation all over again.

Copy, paste with Bauer. Hes now banned through April.

The year is 2052. Vladimir Guerrero III swats his 20th home run in the hermetically-sealed TeslaDisneyFOXCOM Dome, breaking the April record set by his father. MLB announced Trevor Bauer's suspension has been extended two more weeks.

Congrats to Miggy on 3000. One of the best hitters the game has ever seen.

Gonna be a while before we see 3000 again. Don’t know if Freddie, Trout or Altuve can make it.

Think it may be up to Acuña, Tatis, Soto and Vlad Jr

Pirates lost 21-0 to the Cubs. Chicago had 23 hits, Pitt had 3. Newk made his Chicago debut with a perfect inning. Cubs used him up 17-0. Not in the 4th trying to keep an elite team close.

At first I thought this was a Bears-Steelers score but then I remembered the odds the Bears defense prevents the Steelers from scoring is low. And the odds the Bears score 21 point is even lower.

Tampa Bay used an opener today and somehow threw a 9-inning no-hitter. The only problem is that the Rays didn't score.

So, we're in the 10th now, a runner started on second because of that dumb rule, and our friend Matt Wisler promptly gave up a double followed by a sacrifice fly.

Guess this was why he was still unsigned.

Didn't he and Borus reject 100 mil from NYM not long ago?

Yes, they said Conforto jacked up his shoulder working out in January. This is why guys take less for security. Like Ozzie telling ESPN he took the deal he did so he could take care of his mom. You just never know what can happen.

Also,  doesn't he always seem to be hurt?

Not recently. He played over 150 games in 2018 and 2019. He played 54 of the 60 games in 2020. Had a couple of things that limited him to about 130 last year.
