Braves win 3-1. They took a no hitter into the 9th. Vodnik was the star pitcher. 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB. 5 K. He was throwing hard with a sharp slider

Bryce Elder, Darius Vines, and Vodnik all made pretty much the best possible impressions they could make. Elder will be a dark horse rotation candidate.

Matt Olson's RBI single was a nice piece of hitting, hard opposite-field two-strike single against the shift.

Contreras crushed the ball twice. First was the one-hop double off the wall. Second was a bullet line-drive hit right at the first baseman.

The no-hitter was lost in the 9th when Michael Harris lost a high pop up in the Florida sun and it dropped in for a double. This is a common occurrence in afternoon games at CoolToday Field.

Reminder that for out of market people. Todays game can be watched on MLB.TV as one of their free games of the day and I believe in market is on Bally Sports.

Indeed, today's game can be watched on TV for those in market. Get your first dose of Chip and Jeff.

Good game today for the position player prospects. Harris and Grissom hitting the ball hard each time up. Shewmake had a really good 10-pitch AB that resulted in a walk and an eventual run scored. Franklin and Dean making good plays in the OF. Considering that the Rays ran out 8 of their planned Opening Day 9 and we countered with a line of minor league free agent signings, a 4-4 tie is pretty great.

Kyle Muller will start tomorrow. The beginning of his audition for a spot at the backend of the rotation. With the acquisition of another SP looking more lik a July move, guys like Wright, Touki, Muller and Davidson have a wide open path.

Counting backwards on the calendar, guessing that the Opening Day starter will start on Thursday. That means Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be full of those guys in some order (plus Ynoa, Strider, and Tarnok).

IF Brock Holt and RHP Brad Brach have signed minor league deals and have been added to the non-roster invitee list.

Brach was good for us in 2018. Feels like last year when we signed a bunch of journeymen guys, hoping a few stuck for depth.

Not a bad strategy. There will always be injuries, and probably more this year than ever thanks to the compressed spring schedule.

If you're unfamiliar with Brock Holt, folks, he can play every position on the field...and has. Scroll down to his Standard Fielding listing here:
