Unknøwn
Rutgers was the first 5-7 team by rankings but they said no. All of the 5-7 teams have ended practices and mostly went home. Beilema is reportedly willing to accept if they're offered. Wake gave the Gator a deadline of Friday to find a team or cancel.
Unknøwn
Shad Khan is also throwing his weight behind Illinois in Jacksonville. Khan is an Illinois alum and I would imagine one of their biggest boosters.
Killing Floor
What about the Jacksonville Jaguars? They're still practicing and it wouldn't be a difficult commute. eddiesauto, Faithful Falcon and The Great American

Why would we want to see wake play such a subpar opponent?🤔 eddiesauto and Killing Floor
eddiesauto
Hopefully ole Dave Clawson and Wake get an opponent here soon. They had a nice season and deserve a bowl opponent.

The Action Network first reported and ESPN confirmed that Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan, an Illinois alum, was pushing for his alma mater to play the bowl game in Jacksonville, Florida 😉

Unknøwn
Rutgers is in. They had first shot and decided to go for it. 5-7 teams apparently ranked via academics and they were #1. It's thr biggest bowl Rutgers has ever been in. They have a week to shake off the rest. They have been working out so they have that. Apparently the semester at Rutgers doesn't end till today. So everyone was still together and hitting the weight room.
LawDawg
5-7 Rutgers in the Gator Bowl is a joke. Memphis just got left high and dry by Hawaii. Should put Memphis in instead.

They pulled out the day before the game and Memphis spent all that money to travel to Hawaii. If Hawaii had been honest then Memphis would have easily been shifted to the Gator Bowl. Not a surprise that a program run by Todd Graham would be doing sketchy things.
