I have always kinda looked back on Mora as a coach who was incredibly lucky to have Michael Vick.

Possibly but we made a seamless transition to 4-3 and had a dominant 3 headed rushing attack on offense.  Ultimately it may have stymied Vicks development but Mora had instant success.

I have a feeling OU and Texas are really going to struggle in SEC. I hate it for college football that they’re even coming here.

Tend to agree, but I think OU will be fine depending on who they hire. Maybe not "fine" in that they have an easy road to playoff contention, but they should be very competitive. They can be competitive in the SEC with their recruiting base in Oklahoma and Texas and they already have a proven ability to dip into SEC states for players. Really depends on their immediate coaching hire imo.

Texas is a whole different matter though. They're going to get wrecked in the SEC until they bring their recruiting up to another level and straighten out self sabotaging booster/admin issues.

Taking the two blue blood programs out of the Big 12 is not good, but I also look at it potentially moving college football more toward open scheduling. SEC scheduling will be a lot better imo with a pod system.

True he had instant success but it was not sustained success. He played favorites with the players, alienated many of them, and we declined pretty badly. By the time Vick's dog fighting issue sprang up, fans had already been booing the team at games and the bottom was ready to fall out.

OK and TX will adjust to the SEC style of play because they have to. Once they're here, playing those kinds of teams every week will force them to adjust. It may be a rough first couple of years though

they will also needs to get coaches who want to be in the SEC (which shouldn't be hard to fine, but that doesn't mean they will be successful).. I know on OU boards their mods have been talking about how upset Riley was about the move to the SEC and he was not in favor of it.  That seems to be one of the reasons behind him leaving for USC.  Both programs will struggle early, but playing in the SEC will further their footprint in Florida and Georgia and help their recruiting (especially Oklahoma).  Both programs have enough money to get top ranked coaches.. The OU guys are very angry of course, but they seem to really want Beamer back.

I would just like to take a moment to acknowledge LSU fired Ed Orgeron back in October and still don't have a replacement lmao

And I have no idea who they will get either. Gotta think Dave Aranda is off the table right now (hasn’t he said as much?) and I don’t know why Kiffin would leave when he still can do more at Ole Miss

Perhaps LSU wants to respect their top prospect's potential national title run and keep things on the down low. LSU could easily double Fickell's salary. Perhaps offer Mel Tucker type money. That would be my pick if I were LSU.

Whoever gets that job the one thing you can almost guarantee is they will win a national title at least once during their time.. the last 3 coaches have won a title at LSU..  I don't know what the rules are anymore regarding interviewing nfl coaches, but I believe their might be some reasoning on why they can't announce someone yet, but I could be wrong there..  I am stunned they haven't announced a hire yet.. They have had the chance to get their top few choices, but it sounds like the usual screwing up by the LSU administration.  They are not interested in Napier who seems to be the #1 guy for Florida and that says something since he is in their state and recruits their state.

A lot of talk about Kiffin being unhappy at Ole Miss. He could stay there and have some more success but if he doesn’t like being there it may not be worth it for him. I don’t really know. He tweeted this earlier so I guess we’ll see. He likes to troll

I thought Aranda might jump at it but he apparently is committed to the Baylor job. The LSU job is on another level, but Baylor does have a lot going for them these days.

It’s wild to me that they didn’t even consider Napier. I feel like he’s a very strong candidate for that job and really can’t understand how he wasn’t a primary target. He’s probably the best hire Florida could make right now imo. No idea how successful he will be there but he’s clearly a very good head coach and strong in recruiting.

Somehow they made that move with Orgeron to get out ahead of the process and we’ve seen almost every top option stay put or go elsewhere. I kinda doubt Kiffin goes to LSU. I think he wants Miami. LSU is a top tier job and would pay him more than Ole Miss will match though. Matt Campbell has a huge buyout at Iowa State, like $28 million. If it’s an NFL guy then I guess the delay makes sense, maybe Matt Rhule… but that would mean no staff set for the early signing period and no announcement until January. This can’t be how they pictured it in October lol

Washington is making progress toward hiring Fresno State HC Kalen DeBoer.

Oklahoma DC Alex Grinch is planning to visit USC. Riley will offer him the opportunity to follow as the DC.

Jeff Monken and Coastal Carolina HC Jamey Chadwell expected to get some interest from Duke. Monken is known to be open to a P5 opportunity and a chance to show he can run an offense that isn't triple option.

If Harsin's agent thought the rumors of UW being interested in him to get a raise after one 6-6 season . . .

That question with Harsin will remain. Hes a west coast guy, how long before he takes a chance to go home where he's more comfortable and has more connections? I never thought it would be after year 1 though. Hes at least going to try to do something at Auburn first. I know he left Arkansas State after 1 season but that was go to his hometown and his "home" of Boise State.

Kiffin is an awesome troll lol. I can’t see him leaving for LSU though and I think you hit the nail on the head with Miami. Feels like that is more up his alley.

LSU has really blown this entire thing. They had Napier right in their backyard and let him get away to Florida. I think that’ll be a very good hire for Florida honestly. He has Louisiana to a level of respectability I didn’t was possible lol. But hey, it could completely flop.

I think Rhule would be an interesting choice for LSU, but idk if he would leave right now. I wouldn’t be shocked to see LSU go after Brady lol. Doesn’t really make sense that someone like LSU would go after a guy with no HCing experience, but that seems like a move they would make to try and recapture the 2019 magic. Maybe they call Fickel?

I also could be wrong, but I think Matt Campbell was built for the Nebraska job. Think if they suck again next year, he gets that job. Campbell has done all he can at Iowa State

Wondering if Harsin might look elsewhere after next year.

Although I think Auburn’s schedule sets up pretty well next year for a nice season, so who knows

Yup.  That pretty much sums it up.  Riley taking his ball and getting as far away from the SEC as he can... outside of Hawaii.

Southern Cal > Norman

Rule the Pac-12 > Be 2nd or 3rd in the SECW every year

Pick who you want in CA > Recruit against the entire conference (and the ACC) in almost every SEC state

Not to mention, an easier path to the playoffs every year.

It was a no brainer, actually.

I think he can be a good coach, but I just don't know his long term success in the SEC recruiting against Saban and Kirby. He would definitely have it easier in the Pac. NW, but if he's really anti-vaxx, going to UW never made any sense either.

At a minimum he needs to fire Bobo. I liked the QB being under center and power running formations this year (and the entire offense not standing up and having to look at Gus and his dumb  *** boards before literally every play) but there were a lot of boneheaded moves on offense this year.

I never understood why auburn guys like sanders and Philli Marshall were pushing the Washington stuff for harsin.  He was never a real candidate.  It sounds like from their spin of see other teams want harsin but he wants to stay because auburn is great comments.    He is not a pro vaccine guy which negates Washington.  The auburn side though there is some concern regarding whether harsin was the right hire already after year 1.
