Lolol.. Napier is so much like Geoff Collins.. gamechanger coordinator.. hahaha

Game changer coordinator.  It sounds like Dwight's position.  Assistant to the regional manager.

Couch is indeed the ST coach. The role is classified as an analyst so he doesn't count towards Florida's 10 man on field staff. He does have the sole responsibility of running the special teams though. Napier believes special teams can change a game hence the title and loophole hes trying to exploit with the 10 coach limit. One of the many knocks on Mullen was he never had a true ST coach so it's part of Napier trying to bring in a new era.

Interesting... Out of curiosity, any idea how this works? Someone else (maybe a GA) is owning the active role of running drills/coaching on the field (with his direction/guidance), and then he operates out of the booth/film exclusively outside of game days? Seems like it could actually be a good approach to adopt if it works... reserve on field staff positions to position specific stuff, but still have someone dedicated to ST coordination/review

No idea right now how gameday will work. Its something Napier is trying to do to beef up his staff and get around the limits. We just know that during the week it'll be Couch preparing the ST unit. Napier did say he prefers to have his ST guy as basically a practice coach only, doesn't think it's necessary to have someone on the field.

Derek Mason has stepped down as Auburn DC and left the program.

Replaced internally with the LB's coach, who was Harsin's DC at Boise St. in 2019 and 2020.  After one season, both of our SEC-experienced coordinators are gone.  Still some on the coaching staff, but Harsin clearly wanted his guys.  I assume he's going to take over offensive play calling moving forward based on the OC hire.

Yeah. The fact Mason hasn't accepted another job before leaving just felt like Harsin feels more comfortable taking control now.

He was in Stillwater a couple of days ago, but still strange he went ahead and resigned.

It's his job if he wants it but he hasn't accepted it yet. Not sure if they're battling over money or what. Either way he's probably good just taking some time off if it's fails.

One Michigan coach is jumping. DC Mike Macdonald is leaving to be DC for the other Harbaugh with the Ravens. Macdonald spent 5 years as a defensive assistant with the Ravens before joining Michigan. Before that he was quality control for Richt during the Grantham era.

Harbaugh might be staying. Vegas has focused in on Josh McDaniels and is meeting in person with him this week to try to wrap it up. Harbaugh was believed to be wanting the Vegas job. Things still could change but I dont know if he would be seriously interested in the other openings.
