K26dp
Excellent piece by Boston Globe reporter and AL Cy Young voter Alex Speier on his reasoning for his vote -- including a disillusionment with WAR that mirrors my own.
Jimsmusic™
if soroka does ok having verlander on this starting rotation would've been deadly but yeah not for 25M a year

If he is able to step up (no pun intended) and provide innings at some point, you consider that a bonus. Malachore and Jimsmusic™

I see the same thing in major tennis tournaments prior to serving a ball and it really does keep the game flow going.

Failure to beat the clock results in a ball.
falconsd56
With the uncertainty of Soroka , I think that the braves will try and sign another vet starter or 2. I would not have minded Verlander for 25 if only for 1 year. AA has a pretty fantastic track record with the 1 year deal thing. Honestly I hope that the Braves make a push for Scherzer....he may want to stay out west but I think they should atleast make a big run for him. I thought I would hate it when they introduced it to the minor leagues, but it does keep things moving pretty quickly. You can see the effect in the majors as well. Think about how quickly guys who have come up within the last few years typically go versus older vets. The internal clock gets to matching the pitch clock and it becomes habit. ATL Fan in the DMV
Speaking of pitch clock, I'd love to see something implemented fit batters. The constant stepping out to adjust their junk, look at the sky, adjust the helmet and every piece of armor, spit, and take 5 practice swings while outside the box surely account for lots of time.
