Cardinals are reportedly moving towards a deal with Albert Pujols. Gives STL some DH and bench help and allows Pujols to return home for what could he his final year. You could also have Pujols, Molina and Wainwright all retire together. Molina has already said 2022 will be his final year and Wainwright has also indicated he'll retire with Molina. A huge era in the history of the Cards will close after 2022.

still painful thinking about that JD Drew/Adam Wainwright trade - thought that was a bad one at the time as well - Wainwright was by far the Braves #1 prospect and stud.   He proved every bit of it - traded to Cardinals 18 years ago.   SMDH.

Schuerholtz really screwed us those last few years trying to extend the playoff streak and cement his "legacy"

As K2 said it would really hurt the MLB team to do it plus Harris. I honestly wouldn't move Harris. I think he's as close to untouchable as AA will go. He's your future CF and can be in your long term plans beyond what Reynolds would provide. Basically I don't think Reynolds is a big enough need today to mortgage such a future piece.

I just like shiny things but you're right lol

This may shock you, but I would move Harris in a package for Reynolds -- and I *love* Harris. Four years of control of an elite player at a defensive skill position just doesn't come available often. I just can't see us being able to put a package together that would give the Pirates what he's worth.

According to Buster Olney, teams and players would like to bring back the 7 inning doubleheaders. They haven't yet because the fan feedback was so negative.

Personally, I enjoyed it. You still got 14 innings.

I liked it too.  I was thinking pitchers wouldn’t like it because their complete game shutouts don’t count.

Players like it cause it's less of a toll on them. They aren't at the ballpark for the entire day and sometimes playing 18 or more innings. Sometimes you follow that up with a late night flight to play the following day. I know a lot of the fan complaints came from people who actually bought tickets. They felt they weren't getting their full moneys worth with it being a short game cause you buy it for a normal day and then it gets turned into a 7 inning game cause of weather.

Angels DFA'd Justin Upton. He had $28M left on his contract so they'll pay him $28M to go away. Upton hit .232/.322/.443 in his 5 seasons in Anaheim. He averaged 15 HR a season during that span. They paid him $106M for that. His numbers against lefties are still decent so he might land as a bench bat somewhere as a risk free signing.

That’s such a weird, weird trade.

Mets reportedly wouldn't keep Hosmer. Word is they might flip him to the Cubs. So I guess we'll see what the Mets are getting from Chicago. Per the report, SD would be covering all but $6M of Hosmer's annual salary so he'd be a cheap piece to move for the Mets.

Mets have backed out of the Hosmer trade. They reportedly wanted to deepen their pitching staff by adding Paddack and Pagan. Padres were basically making them take Hosmer as a salary dump throw in. Mets decided against it. SD was willing to throw in money but would have saved $24M on Hosmer in the deal.
